27. Don't compare that failure piece of shit to Michael
Bush had everything handed to him. Michael worked hard from the time he was a little boy. Michael Jackson had talent, Bush had his Daddy's connections.
BIG DIFFERENCE

30. I totally agree
I think it's disgusting how quickly people start in with the bashing. It might not be very relevant to DU but for god sake, can't they all just be a little bit more respectful of the dead?

I still like the cartoon though. It is pretty funny...

22. It needs one more panel
"message boards are overloaded with new threads about this person that hasnt been mention on the board for years!" I just dont understand it. Did anyone know the guy personally? No. So why are people so upset?

38. It's not like he was John Lennon.
Or Jerry Garcia, or George Carlin, or Ghandi, or some other person who carried a message of peace and acceptance to mankind.

Did he do a few nice things? Yes. Was his positive impact on the world in proportion to all of this hoopla? Nah.

Nobody here has to have known somebody personally in order to pay tribute to the passing of that person, but from what I've seen on this and other boards, you'd think it was Barack Obama who'd died. The guy wasn't THAT important.

32. Yep. That was the exact response of our local tv news here in LA
on Thursday.

They had somebody drive up to the FORMER Neverland Ranch property to stand around and talk to half a dozen MJ groupies who had gone there for some unfathomable reason.

...at his "Walk of Fame" star, to look at something they could look at, without needing to line up, any other week of the year. "Oh no, MJ is dead. I need to go to Hollywood and stare at the ground." Of course the KTLA news crews were covering that "breaking" story, too.

37. The most pathetic part of that was, you can't GET TO or even SEE his star
because of construction in the area. The Michael Jackson star everyone gathered at was ANOTHER person's by the same name (radio guy?). It was absurd.

45. Well, to be fair, as soon as he died the local tv told people about
the star situation, so most people who went to the alternate star knew it was an alternate.

But still, it's weird. Of course, I am gonna go to Barnes and Noble today and stroll the two blocks up to the Jackson home on Hayvenhurst in Encino, lol, and look at flowers and candles. So I better not criticize, lol.
