Sanford probably could have gotten away with his "hiking" story
Edited on Wed Jun-24-09 07:41 PM by Clintonista2
I'm thinking #1- His wife/lover threatened to talk or #2- He thinks that by getting this out of the way early, people will forget about it by 2012 and he thinks he'll still have a chance at the presidential nom.

8. The flight he was spotted getting off of was from Buenas Aries
I think he had a suspicion the hiking story wouldn't work.

2. He can't get away from the abandonment of office part, though
Had he checked in with his office a perfunctory once a day by cell phone, that wouldn't have been an issue.

Now it's grounds to impeach the sanctimonious twit.

4. He is soooo done.
Even aside from the fact of having a lover on the side, the idea that he wandered away from his SC duties without telling anyone renders him useless as a candidate for higher office.

He is cooked.

5. He has NO shot in 2012.
People don't vote for candidates who just drop off the grid for a week.

Unless they're "in" the Texas Air National Guard, of course. Then it's no big deal.

6. He's in love. Head over heels. I think he wanted to get caught...
I mean come on read the emails! He's a repressed Republican (aren't they all?) having a midlife crisis and said heck with it after getting skewered for his stance on the incentives.

That's just my opinion of course. He could pull a Newt and start a comeback for 2016. I'm sure Fox will hire him after he resigns.
