Webathon raises $100K for Palin's legal defense fund, trustee says bills now exceed $600K
Edited on Mon Jun-22-09 11:27 PM by Amerigo Vespucci
ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A national campaign fueled by a conservative Web site is helping Gov. Sarah Palin with the expense of legal fees she has run up defending herself against ethics complaints.

The campaign brought in more than $100,000 to the defense fund, called the Alaska Fund Trust, in the past week.

A formal "webathon" fundraiser wrapped up Sunday night but Conservatives4Palin says it will continue publicizing the effort with a goal of raising $500,000.

Palin in March said her legal debts had climbed past $500,000.

Kristan Cole, the trustee for the legal defense fund, says it’s her sense that the bills now exceed $600,000.

Palin supporters call the attacks frivolous.

2. I hope she's forced to declare bankruptcy.
That would be some justice.

3. Never happen...
To avoid bankruptcy all she has to do is return some more clothes and shoes or eyeglasses and jewelry.

But matching up each price tag (saved in an old styrofoam cooler buried in a crawl space under the trailer, all this time) with the proper piece of merchandise is going to be a big-time clusterf*ck, you betcha.

4. If she can't even defend herself against ethics complaints,
how is she going to defend America against terrorists?

5. Fighting 'Terrorism' -- that one's a Rovian dream scenario
...involving full cooperation with all the gossipy 'Infotainment' TV "news" shows, some strategic product placement agreements (bringing in a huge volume of corporate sponsorship) and a marketing agreement between those two $ucce$$ful 'JailBabesDotCom' and 'GunTotinMamasDotCom' websites. (Which just happen to be owned by a consortium of most of the "product placement" advertisers.)

...We are all consumer cattle, herded invisibly into one "profit niche" or another, without our even being aware of what they're getting away with.
