Mandatory purchasing of private health insurance
Edited on Sun Jun-21-09 11:11 AM by SHRED
If Obama thinks that will fly then WTF?

When you have all of the Repubs and half of the Dems in Congress in the back pocket of the private health industry then you'd better get ready for:

* Mandatory private health insurance
* Continued limited Doctor choices
* Taxing of employer based insurance, as income, to pay for those who can't afford it.
* A corporate welfare windfall for private insurance

1. As long as there is public option, I am ok with it.

10. Exactly, I don't want a single dime of mine to go to the bastards
who have been telling me to crawl off and die quietly since 1987.

I'll be a scofflaw while I sell what I own and prepare to leave.

all corporate whoredom.
:puke:

Meanwhile, check the thread about NYTimes/CBS Poll. 72% want single payer.

3. I find it pretty amusing that all of a sudden big pharma has offered
to cut the price of brand name drugs in half for seniors in the donut hole . . . as if they aren't going to double the price first. You cannot trust big insurance and big pharma. I'd rather see no change than to be served up to United Healthcare on a platter (and I'm uninsured and desperately want a solution).

6. Yeah, if you're uninsured because you can't afford coverage
How is MAKING you buy it going to get you money you don't have? It's like "curing" the homeless problem by requiring everyone to buy or rent a home.

5. Yes, and this was EXACTLY what I feared.
I knew we were going to get mandatory private insurance and no public option. The worst of both worlds. This will be perhaps the most egregious corporate welfare ever.

7. The problem I have with it is that it caters to all of the bullshit that the GOP spews
It gives legitimacy to the bullshit notion that private industry always does things better. There should be mandatory purchasing of a government plan similar to Medicare.

We should flush Obama's plan and hold out for a system like the French have. Universal coverage, an abundance of choice, some of the best satisfaction rates in the world, and it costs 50% less than what the US currently pays for far less service. What's not to love?

8. "mandatory" insurance is a gift to insurance companies
just like all other "mandatory" insurance laws already in existence.

9. Anything less than single payer
and I will have to carefully re-evaluate who I will vote to retain office in the next election. Regardless of the consequences. No more voting for the best of two bad choices here. Those in office either advance and protect my need for health care or they don't. And if they don't then I will not vote for them. Simple as that. Apparently it is already time for me to start seeking out candidates.....

Or rather, how it's a fucking trainwreck.

You can check out plans here:
http://www.mahealthconnector.org/portal/site/connector/

A decent plan for a family of 4 will run you $1500-$2000/month.
