Poll question: If a corrupt court at some level gives the election to Coleman, what will happen
It's been 7 months now, the Repukes have managed to destroy the constitutional government of the land, with no end in sight. Eventually, maybe at SCOTUS, the will of the people of Minnesota will be overthrown. What will happen in the aftermath?

6. Reid will bow his head in resignation
He will welcome Coleman back, if reluctantly, and say that he had decided to seat Coleman in the interest
of peace and harmony, of which Coleman would subsequently give him none.

16. Coleman simply will not be seated.
Under the Constitution the Senate, like the House, ultimately determines its own membership, ultimately, and the Court has no way to make them perform otherwise.

17. Ultimately, I agree with you
I was just speculating as to Reid's reaction if Coleman should be declared the winner. First off,
I no longer see that as possible, and in the unlikely event that Pawlenty should somehow manage
to get Coleman certified, I doubt the Senate would go for it. However, I do fear that a few Democrats
(Reid included) as well as all Republicans would vote for Coleman's seating.

Not one to place bets, if I were forced to, I'd bet that Senator Franken will be seated in less than
a year after the election. The question is, does his six year term start when he is seated, or does
he only get a five year term?

(Just kidding!!!!!)

7. The DLC will call a press conference
And claim that Ralph Nader took away the votes Franken needed to win the election, but if Al had just been "more of a centrist" he would have won by a comfortable margin.

They will then invite Coleman to join the party, as he has the right values to be a "New Democrat".

12. on the other hand
what should the Republicans do if a corrupt court gives the election to Franken?

The "will of the people of Minnesota" as shown in that election was what?
Franken 42.2, Coleman 42.1, 3rd party et. al. 15.7. Is it better to burn down the system and start over because of .1%?

13. .1% is .1% A corrupt court or a court that can count? Even if he had won by 1 vote he would still be
the winner of this election.

15. except that all of those vote totals are kinda fuzzy
and the will of the people at 42.2 vs. 42.1 is not the same as the will of the people at 70-30 or 60-40.

The numbers are fuzzy because judgement calls are being about which votes count and which votes don't. Those judgement calls can be questioned both by higher authorities and by the voters (spectators, fans).

14. the people of MN have had their votes counted, and Franken got more
Second, the courts are now packed with hyper-partisan GOP hacks who belong in prison. So I don't really see how a corrupt court could "give" anything to Franken.

18. I don't believe the Court, no matter how corrupt, can "give it to Coleman, Franken won.
Franken has more votes. That part is official.
