I will fight them until my last breath, the ugly, inhuman, dittoheads.

Sorry. Forgive me; I am upset tonight, and they are indeed killers.

1. What those assweasels think is of no consequence.
None of them is worthy to scrape the chewing gum off the bottom of Cronkite's shoe. He was the best.

25. "We" did not.
Individual DUers might have done their dancing at his death, but in general DU has remarkable respect and reverence, not only for the dead but for the ones they leave behind.

DUers in general do not wish harm to anyone, even our enemies, with the exception of those who continue to advocate for execution of certain criminals.

And while I think there are probably some of us who secretly smile when a particularly disliked individual passes away, there is relatively little real gloating.

I suspect that even when some of the most evil finally pass on, there will be appropriate condolences expressed here.

35. Rejoiced over Reagan? I must have skipped all of those posts.
However I did think it was probably a very good thing and wasn't sure why great grieving. The devastation of Alzhemiers was the sad part. He was freed of that when he died.

Not that we are above it. There were some snotty comments as soon as Tim Russert died about things he did wrong in his job and so on.

When Falwell died my thoughts weren't too kind. I think those who are most surprised after death are atheists and fundamentalists... but the atheists will like the surprise.

But rejoicing at someones death? I might not grieve it, might feel unmoved...but why rejoice? Especially when someone is harmless at the time
Even with Reagan, as much as I despised his presidency, I wondered about Nancy. My grandpa was senile for the last couple years before he died at 96. Though he was no true companion his death left an emptiness...he'd been so much her focus at the end that the loss was very hard on her

i don't care what killed him, alzhiemers or the black plague, i'm glad he's dead and i don't care how many times i'm scolded or chastised for it. the day he took office was the most depressing day of my life, and i swore, that on the day he died, i'd drink a toast of celebration and figuratively piss on his grave and have said so to several gingrich sucking reagan worshipping dickheads.

fuck ronald reagan, and i hope in some small way my fuck you counteracts all the bullshit we are going to be hammered with for a fucking month after the fall of this 'greeeeeaaaaaat human being'.

fuck you ronnie, here's to ya pal. see ya in hell

12. One of the nicer comments there tonight: "When Cronkite dies, I’ll just think “good riddance”.
This is who they are.

They are no different than Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, or any show on Fox News.

They are haters, and killers. And we take them for granted, or for fools, here at DU. They would kill us in a minute if they had the chance. And you can see that over there tonight. Yet many here take all of them together for granted, and as not a threat to our nation, and to basic decency.

I think that's wrong, but I expect to be ridiculed for it. The comments on Obama are one thing. But check out the raw hatred for Cronkite there. More like the Holocaust Museum shooter. That's who they are. That's who Rush, O'Reilly and Beck are, as well. They just mute it so as to make their $$$$, but that's what they want. They are killers.

We take them as jokes at our peril.

48. What they are saying about Walter Cronkite is terrible and revolting--
Shocking that they claim to be Christian.

Interesting that their celebration of Cronkite's demise also brings out their hatred of JFK and Obama.

And yes, I think many DUers underestimate the power of the right wing's hatred and prejudice. And, they claim to have God on their side.

to the Vietnamese. Wow that's strange logic from people who profess to adhering to the democratic principle that people should choose their own government.
The fact is the Vietnamese people wouldn't let an invading army take over their country.

26. Sorry, I just can't agree with you. There are idiots all over the world.
And when idiots are quite deservedly ridiculed, and marginalized, they don't shut up and retool/regroup, they get vociferous and boisterous and tell everyone about how they've been slighted and put down and don't get the "respect" that they deserve.

That's all you are seeing with those jerks--the disordered rantings of failed losers. They should stand up every so often and brush the cheeto fluff off of their boxers, and if they're really motivated, they should put on a bathrobe, walk up the stairs from mom's basement, and take out the trash for poor old mom.

My post on this subject is not "insane," FWIW, but I have paid attention to "these people." The smaller their party gets, the more they carp about bullshit, use hateful invective, and further isolate themselves from any sort of civil discourse.

Again, consider the source. You'll never see ice cream coming out of a horse's ass, so it's a counterproductive excercise to be expecting that. They are what they are.

I guess someone should keep an eye on them, just as they got lurkers keeping an eye on us. That's why we have open politics in this country--with the exception of White House visitor logs. But I can't go there sometimes. I know what the shit's gonna smell like when something like this comes up. Somedays the stupid is funny over there, but about this it's not.

He had the temerity to be openly critical of Chimpolini's administration so FoxNews tried to smear him whenever they could. It was laughable to see, really, since Walter Cronkite has more journalistic integrity in a single one of his famous moustache's hairs than exists in all the vacuous shitbags who populate that channel.
