Or, to be properly correct, since it is a pun,

GROAN!

8. I tend to agree...
There's a bit of fringing along the child's front, though that could be the result of over-sharpening the picture.

Not 100% positive, though.

15. Look at the triangle between the lower barrel of the gun, the hand
and the soldier's body. Photoshopped.

23. Obviously. David Letterman had his face removed ...
... and Piper's face replaced with some Middle Eastern child-terrorist.

He's gone too far now.

3. I sure as hell hope that is merely posed. But even if it is, that is sick.
Who poses pointing an assault rifle at a child? :wtf:

But if it is not posed, if that is really a soldier in the field with an assault rifle deliberately aimed at a child then that's even worse.

What kind of training would make someone callous and heartless enough to threaten the life of a pre-schooler like that?

just like the elian gonzalez photo. He's holding his rifle at a normal position when in a situation, but not actively hostile. It's ready, but pointed down. The kid just happens to be there.

Not to mention that his finger is off the trigger, safely positioned above the trigger guard.

Not that I'm defending the Iranian gov't, by any stretch of the imagination.

7. Seriously...people don't look carefully.
That kid is in no danger, and the first impression created by the photograph is not a good guide to anything.

11. Looks like he's holding it awful high for the "relaxed" position
Although the second kid seems to be pretty casual.

Maybe he's motioning the kid away with the rifle?

13. well, he may be confronting protesters to the right
but he's still following pretty safe military weapon handling procedures.

You may be right, as well. Who knows what movement was happening before the picture was taken

6. I have seen no proof that the picture was photoshopped.......
And I frankly doubt that it has been. It is, in fact, pretty much how the Israeli army treats Palestinians, from the youngest to the oldest.

21. Oh, golly. Guess what? This is about Iran.
Israel isn't in this fight.

And you know what? Persians detest Arabs. Not to mention that Hezbullah are mercenaries for Khameni. Think that makes them beloved in Iran?

Could not resist a slur against Jews. You know what? If children had been put into suicide vests and sent to your bus, your restaurant, your market, YOU might have a little distrust of their innocent faces, too. But the Israelis have no right to fear or anger or justice, only the Arabs.

22. Oh, look. Those fine people are busy.
4. By far the biggest threat people are facing right now are plainclothesmen. They seem to be everywhere and are targetting people who are not in groups. These men have been mostly linked with Ansar e Hezbollah. They are responsible for beating people up, arresting people, threatening protesters, arresting reformists from their homes and such.

24. And don't forget to defend this:
15. Several eye-witnesses have seen non-Iranian Arabs waving Hamas/Hezbollah flags around the protests. These reports have been fully confirmed and are NOT a rumor spread by Israel.

12. I don't see anything menacing about the pic
I don't see that the soldier is threatening the kid. As another poster said, his finger is clearly off the trigger.

Although it's a little disturbing that kids are walking around with armed militia.

Door Gunner: Easy! Ya just don't lead 'em so much!

Edited on Thu Jun-18-09 04:18 AM by ima_sinnic
it appears there is an area on the green background that is grayish. looks like some old spray paint, maybe a slogan or graffiti that was painted over.
