IMO South Park Sharked the Jump tonight...
They toyed with Easter.. Made fun of the Pope...And Kyle even killed Jesus...

So where are the uber-crats posting the evils of South Park that I get to read every other week? Oh yeah, they only post the horror that is South Park when it offends their humorless PC sensibilities..

O the huge manatees...

1. People still watch South Park?
South Park was new and fresh when I was in college nine years ago. Maybe I'm just getting old.

8. I loved it
"Peter RABBIT!?!?"

It followed the great South Park tradition of holding up parts of our culture that make no sense. Eggs and bunnies have nothing to do with Jesus. Heck, the word "Easter" has nothing to do with the Bible. But rather than explain the real reason all these symbols have become connected (bunnies and eggs are from pagan spring festivals; eggs also figure prominently in Passover seders), they took it to a crazy place to show just how screwy it all is.

I would have preferred that Jesus had wished Kyle a "Happy Passover" instead of "Happy Easter", though.

9. Fertility symbols
Eggs are a symbol of fertility and so are rabbits. When Constantine made Christianity the religion of the Roman Empire he kept parts of existing religions and bunnies and eggs were those parts. They have absolutely nothing to do with Christianity and in fact are opposite of Christianity but we have what we have.

One of the few I could sit down and watch with my 74-year-old mom.

But for me, their episodes on religion are the only funny ones - so thanks for the heads up, I'll check the rerun on this one.

17. Stop watching it. Every week there's a thread like this.
I thought it was cleverly funny. The whole Knights Templar thing as Hare Club for Men. Cracked me up.
