Safari 4--this is one BAD ASS browser!!!
:bounce: I'm currently using the new Safari 4 Browser from Apple here on my Dell laptop, and this is the most BAD ASS browser I've ever used! It loads before you can blink, plus you have the panel where your most frequently visited sites are collected and ready to go at a single click--when DU is updated, a blue starred corner is displayed. History gets the same Cover Flow treatment you find in iTunes, and when you launch it for the very first time, you get a cool "Welcome to Safari" video--just as if you've launched a new Mac for the first time :bounce:

webpages with alot of content--ESPN for example--simply loads and is ready to use before you're even ready. Javascript simply flies thanks to the new Nitro engine--and this is on a Dell with Vista Home Premiun. I can't wait to see what the Snow Lepaord (sp) on one of those new MacBook Pros--now the 13 inch MacBook is in the Pro family, for $1199 :bounce: 15 inch at $1699!! $29 for 10.6 in September--$29 for an OS that's looking amazing. Did I pick a great time to go back to school or not?

3. My wife and I have a pair of iMacs and use Boot Camp because we're gamers.
Sadly, we both need to run Windows a good portion of the time for games, but I honestly never in a million years thought that the copy of Vista Home Premium I have loaded on this machine would EVER have been this stable or easy to work with after hearing almost two years of non-stop trash talking. We do love using the Mac side, though, when there are apps we want to run excluding games. iTunes on a Mac is just great!

But, since we come from a M$ background, we've both become accustomed to Firefox and run it in both Windows and Leopard.

Now you got me thinking I'll have to play around with this new Safari on my Leopard side tomorrow because it does sound pretty nice. :)

8. trust me you'll love it
I'll be starting online classes for DeVry next month, and with the financial aid I'm qualified for, I want one of those new MacBook Pros! Just wait until you launch Safari 4 for the first time... :-)

10. The Safari 4 Beta was a bit rough, though
I ran the beta through at least three different builds and it was a bit buggy. I had a couple of kernel panics (which are very rare) while leaving Safari 4 beta running when I put my Mac Pro to sleep. And the beta filled my logs with complaints about "Safari<4709> <Error>: CGImageDestinationCreate destination parameter is nil". I also didn't like where they moved the tabs and the change in how you reload/refresh a page.

But I upgraded to Safari 4 yesterday and this is definitely a non-beta browser. Much nicer. No error messages in my console logs, very fast Javascript implementation and page display is quick. I also use Firefox and its page loading seems a step slower. But I still love the plug-in architecture of Firefox; Firebug is a developer's must-have tool!

I can't wait for Snow Leopard.

19. No shit. Welcome to the Apple Quality Assurance Team
Also known as Apple's customer base.

However, I gotta agree with the OP that, so far, the 4.0 release is pretty damn spiffy.

11. yes it's real sleek and fast
Too bad it's not 64-bit yet. We have to wait for Snow Leopard for that to be fully implemented.

13. It's good to see prices coming down.
And I'm especially happy to see a 13" MBP--LOVE my nearly 3 yr. old 15" MBP, but at times I wish it was a tad smaller when lugging it through an airport. Since it is hooked up to an external monitor for real work I don't need the extra screen space.

14. i was surprised myself
Usually WWDC is about what developers, content creators, IT pros and the like can use and do with the latest Apple software and hardware. a 13 inch MBP starting at 1199 (and a little cheaper than that for us college students)? I'd still like the 15 inch version, but I won't rule out the 13 inch MBP. It simply has exactly what I'll need:-)

And $29 for Snow Leopard--that's a real kick in the nuts for Micro$oft, Apple just beat them again in quality, price, AND it'll be out a month earlier

17. Having used the 15" for so long
I'd take a 13" in a heartbeat. As long as I have the extra monitor (a dell 2407 wfp-hc) the smaller size is very welcome.

18. that would work for me
My Dell is 15, so while it's not too large, I'd like to have something just a touch smaller with a good monitor..I can add the LED display later :-)
