It apparently never dawned on New York's finest to look inside the window?

3. I would bet money - if I had any - they send a bill to relatives.....

Years ago, a recent HS grad was killed when he drove into an electric pole. His parents got a bill for the damage to the pole.

On reflection, I don't know if this is reality or urban legend, but it's a great story, and it's nasty enough to be true.

6. In 1979 My wife to be and I had a one car accident
in Eastern Washington on an ice slicked highway near the Idaho border. We slid into the guard rail and messed up the front our car. The first thing the fucking Washington State Patrol nazi did was get out of his car and go to check the guard rail..didn't inquire of us if we were ok or not...had to check on that state property first!

8. A neighbor who was WA State Patrol
was tending a multi-car accident on 101 heading into Port Angeles way back when.
The line-up of cars included a semi. They were headed down hill and the truck started to slide on the ice. Of course he smashed into the guard rail and flattened it.
My neighbor went to check on the truck and driver and said to the driver " Those darn guard rails are so flimsy they fall down in a strong wind. Guess we had some good gusts last night!"

This was back in the wild west days of the Olympic Peninsula when working people looked after each other.

I called the police about a van, running and seemingly unattended for quite some time at my apt complex parking lot - cops came, rapped on the windows and there was a guy asleep in the back - I certainly didn't notice him at all

12. Not to be overly pedantic...
but do police actually give parking tickets in NY? I would assume it's a private company that does it.
