Guilty secrets
Mine are hymns and choirs. Harmonies, disciplined group singing. The biggest turn on in the world. Nearly.

I couldn't give a flying fuck about the words, whether they praise god, jeebus or the flying imps of satan. As long as there is a good arrangement for voices and well sung, I'm hooked.

Gospel, traditional, avante garde, don't matter. Voices joining together sends shivers up my spine. I had the good fortune to sing in a couple of very large choirs. Not because I have a great voice, but, as they told me, 'You can pick an interval'.

Music transcends religion. Even a militant atheist can sing along to a good old hymn without feeling like a sell-out.

But if it floats your boat, more power to you.

Mine: I like to watch shows like Hannah Montana, Avatar, and until recently Pokemon.

7. Then how come hardly anyone ever mentions them?
As usual there was probably a hidden agenda in even posting; trying to eke some info from people (in a totally non-judgemental way of course) that crossed the lines of public personas.

10. I very seldom listen to the word of a song
Its not important to me as I'm listening to the music. I tried to learn to play the guitar when I was a kid, learned all the chords but never could hear the music I was so wanting to play so I gave up on it.

11. Yes
the vibrations of close harmony get one closest to Source, I think. Maybe that is why I had a tee shirt that said "Sound is God".

12. One of the most powerful things I ever experienced
was a Wiccan ceremony at a local environment park. A procedure was instigated to evoke the 'Cone of Power'.

I have no beliefs either way, but did participate and was wholly caught up in the atmosphere, the group, the consciousness. Being a skeptic and a pragmatist, I recognised the principles of hypnosis, the suspension of belief etc.
But that did not make me any the less suceptible to the experience and I must admit it was not unpleasant.

As I said in the OP, I've sung in a few choirs and there is no place for egos in a choir. You must listen to others.....

15. Here is a free download from Amazon you might be interested in:

http://www.amazon.com/Very-Best-Naxos-Early-Music/dp/B0018R355Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic&qid=1244297478&sr=8-1

If that link doesn't work, do a search on "naxos early" and it'll be the first thing that pops up. Some choral stuff, some instrumental.
