Got Gas?
per my local teevee nooz:

AAA Mid Atlantic sez gas prices over the last 5 months are the sharpest rise this century.

Gaz is up 45¢ per gallon in the last month

Seems not to be much concern about this, however. My guess is that's the plan. We got used to $4 gaz. We didn't like it, but we showed we could take it ...... so that's ***exactly*** what we **will** get.

Another hearty "Fuck You America" from the PTB

1. To Ease Gas Prices, Obama Eyes Speculators

Barack Obama on Sunday proposed tightening the regulation of oil speculators in an effort to ease record high gasoline prices and address one of Americans’ top concerns.

Mr. Obama proposed closing the so-called Enron loophole, a legal provision requested by that company in 2000 that exempts crucial energy commodities from government oversight. He also proposed preventing traders of American crude oil from routing transactions through offshore markets to evade American limits and working with other countries to better regulate oil-futures markets, and he called on the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice to investigate market manipulation and oil futures.

And yet, after being elected......nothing.

7. There is no greater priority than protecting consumers
Especially after the massive ripoff by the energy traders last year that probably was THE trigger for collapsing the housing market, creating the economic crisis we still suffer.

Sorry, but there are so many things less important that the WH has time for, I wont excuse their inattention.

8. Making sure that the people have jobs would be a little higher.
I agree we need to deal with speculators, but there's a LOT we need to deal with. I think anything that's not spontaneously combusting is going to be put off.

2. Nationalize the oil companies
The world runs on energy, and oil is the last commodity on earth that should be in the hands of greedy, corrupt private company executives.

3. Water is the last commodity on earth that should be in the hands of greedy, corrupt private company
And they're working on that, too.

Oil is number two at best.

6. Gas always goes up between Memorial Day and Labor Day
The problem is that it never goes down as much as it went up.
