Pro-Life Virginia / Army of God founder hails Scott Roeder as a hero.
The Rev. Donald Spitz, founder of the Army of God website and Pro-Life Virginia, has posted this to his (laughingly amateurish) website:

http://armyofgod.com /

The lives of innocent babies scheduled to be murdered by George Tiller are spared by the action of American hero Scott Roeder.
George Tiller the Babykiller reaped what he sowed and is now in eternal hell.
Psalm 55:15 Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks hate groups, has more info on the Rev. Donald Spitz and other pro-life extremists:

http://www.splcenter.org/intel/intelreport/article.jsp?...

excerpt:

Spitz has courted controversy for years. He was kicked out of Operation Rescue after the first murder of an abortion doctor in 1993. A Pentecostal minister without a congregation, he has cheered such murders as "righteous," posted "war criminal" posters of doctors, and been arrested at clinics.

According to Wrath of Angels, a book on the abortion wars by James Risen and Judy Thomas, authorities found his name and unlisted phone number in the possession of John Salvi after Salvi murdered two clinic workers and wounded five others in 1994.

Salvi was caught after he carried out the murders in the Boston area and then traveled more than 500 miles to fire a barrage of shots at the Hillcrest Clinic in Norfolk, Va. — a clinic that was routinely picketed by Donald Spitz. Spitz later held a "prayer vigil" outside Salvi's jail cell, shouting, "We love you, John Salvi!"

Last year, Spitz was contacted by Clayton Waagner, who was then a fugitive who boasted of mailing some fake anthrax threats to abortion clinics. Many of Waagner's threats were signed "Army of God, Virginia Dare chapter." Dare was the first white child born in America, and is often romanticized by white supremacists.

Authorities would be prudent to look for any connection between "Reverend" Spitz and Tiller's assassin, Scott Roeder.

1. I've been saying this since the shooting.
Operation Rescue is nothing. The Army of God is who I'd like to see the feds investigate.

2. While I wouldn't advocate
killing this POS wannabe tough guy I would probably not worry too much if someone kicked him repeatedly in the groin.

3. This guy needs to read the ten commandents
One of which says, "Thou shalt not take the lord's name in vain". By calling his group "Army of God", that's exactly what he's doing.

Abortion doctor death: did vitriolic tactics play a role?

• Some killers linked to anti-abortion groups advocating violence
• Fox News host called abortion doctor 'Tiller the Killer'
• Extremist groups receive support via the internet

bill o'lielly:
The popular Fox News talk show host, Bill O'Reilly, regularly called him "Tiller the Killer" and described his clinic as a "death-mill".

"This man is executing babies about to be born," O'Reilly said on one show.

"This is the kind of stuff that happened in Mao's China, Hitler's Germany, Stalin's Soviet Union," he said on another.

O'Reilly also warned that Tiller will face "judgement day".

he shot Tiller.

I guess the irony of "God's work" being done inside a church, spilling blood inside a holy place, is lost on them.

Christ didn't even want moneylending going on inside a church, what would he think of someone killing someone else inside a church?

12. This group should be reigned in by the authorities
When you've committed the crimes they have you've far exceeded your rights to free speech.

Here's a list of some of their more serious offenses.

Many other threatening and violent incidents are attributed to the Army of God. A few examples are as follows:

In 1984, Supreme Court Justice Harry Blackmun received a death threat through the mail from the Army of God. Also in 1984, several abortion clinics as well as the offices of the National Abortion Federation and the American Civil Liberties Union were bombed. The name Army of God was found at one of the crime scenes. Michael Bray, Thomas Spinks, and Kenneth Shields were responsible for the crimes and spent time in prison.

In letters sent to the media, the Army of God claimed responsibility for the bombing of an abortion clinic and a gay bar in Atlanta, GA. Eric Robert Rudolph was on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted List prior to his capture in May 2003. He pled guilty to these crimes. More

Army of God member James Kopp, alias Atomic Dog, was convicted for the fatal shooting of Dr. Barnett Slepian in 1998. Also thought to be linked to Kopp are shootings that injured Dr. Garson Romalis in Vancouver, BC, on November 8, 1994, Dr. Hugh Short in Ancaster, ON, on November 10, 1995 (Kopp is charged with this shooting), an unnamed physician in Rochester, NY, on October 28, 1997, and Dr. Jack Fainman in Winnipeg, MB, on November 11, 1997. More

Clayton Waagner, the man who was convicted of sending over 550 anthrax threat letters to clinics in 2001, signed many of his threat letters with the Army of God. He also posted threats to kill 42 individuals working at abortion clinics on the Army of God website. More
