Enough of this,Balance -Diversity -Demographics crap about the USSupCt...
People who are calling for 'balance', diversity' etc as a criteria for the make-up of the Supreme Court...are without a doubt the most dangerous people in this country! They know NOTHING of what the Courts function is, they think that the court makes rules and laws that apply to specific groups or something. All you have to do to dispel the argument that simply putting a 'Black' on the court suddenly gives the 'Black' community not only a voice, but an advocate for their benefit, is to look at Clarence Thomas! As for the 'latino' How would you feel about Alberto Gonzalez? Huh? You see their MUST be a brain attached to the persons brain stem in order for the thing to work. Put nine of the finest rational minds you can find on the bench, and it won't matter a whit what their ethnic make-up, color or anything else is: if they are rational, have intelligence, AND believe in this system and Constitution, they will make fair decisions and rulings!

ANY Justice that would 'colour' their decision because they were gay, black, their parents or further back were from wherever and spoke whatever, should be impeached and removed from the bench. Now for you twirley-eye ones, that means that the Justice would apply the Constitution EQUALLY to all citizens. For example, NO Justice worthy of being on the bench would support a law that made it a felony to call a gay person a fag, but allow them to call a Mexican a 'Beaner' for instance. Also they would not allow 'Blacks' to call each other 'niggers' and allow a law to remain that made it a felony for any other citizen to also make that slur.

As someone pointed out it was nine old and middle-aged white men that decided Brown vs the school. Was that ruling wrong because no black man sat on the bench? Rational, sane...BRAINS! that is the sole criteria! A rational brain will apply the Constitution in a manner that is consistent with the document, if a wrong needs to be addressed the court can make large note of that in its decision and tell Congress that a law should be passed or that an Amendment should be proposed...THEY DO NOT make laws they interpret laws by laying them against the Constitution.

There is one thing that will of certainty guarantee the fall of this democratic republic...it will fall when the citizens no longer have any notion as to what the Constitution is, and what the Supreme Courts relation to it is. They will accept an Inquisitors court, for the ignorant, the willfully stupid and the corrupt cannot grasp a Constitutionally based government and therefor let it die or slip away.

Note: Sotomayor seems at least to the lay persons ability to determine the facts, to have the 'brain', and the rationality to qualify admirably for the Court.
