Who is Brigitte Gabriel?

My rwing BIL and sister told me I needed to listen to her tape. She spoke at their church and they were so impressed:eyes: Knowing the rwinger my BIL is, I knew this couldn't be good, so I did some checking and found all sorts of stuff on her. Basically she thinks all "radical Muslims shouldn't be allowed to hold office..." :eyes:

Well, she (Brigitte Gabriel) told their church group that "the Muslims are taking over the schools because they want a 3 week course that teaches the Koran in middle and high schools across the country"...and my gullible sis and BIL bought this hook, line, and sinker. There is no hope for these two ever opening their eyes to the real truth of how they are being deceived:banghead:

Anyway, before I speak to her about this again, I want to have all my info sorted out and backed up with facts. Input is greatly appreciated:)

1. I'm tired of that crap.

I've had at least one American tell me that her God demanded that we kill all Muslims. Same crap as Germany, different target. It pains me.

I was rather hoping that we would get more civilized and make different choices.

5. Actually , like many of such claims, there is some truth behind it.

Schools are teaching segments on Islam and the fundies are screaming. Some of the segments are more innocuous than others depending heavily on the teacher and the approach used. Those who use a hands on/role playing kind of approach are getting the most grief.

In a local middle school a feminist student with support from her parents took on her teacher when it came to islam and caused some controversy. She did it from a feminist and equal rights perspective vice a religious one. She was suspended for a short time for being "disruptive and disrespectful", including to a local imam. Made for some interesting times since she (with obvious help from her parents) documented many historical and current issues about the treatment of women under islam. While some of their tactics were clearly inflammatory, they were correct.
