"The Ed Show" is A+ quality programming.
Edited on Fri May-22-09 05:56 PM by Hyper_Eye
I was a little upset when MSNBC gave Ed Schultz a show instead of Cenk Uygur. I didn't think he was a strong enough liberal to lead into KO and I was concerned that his show would be uninteresting. A lot of people have said, "I am going to host a show that focuses on the middle class and their needs." That is exactly what Lou Dobbs claims and he is an absolute failure. My worries were misplaced. "The Ed Show" is fantastic. He has held feet to the fire and he has stuck to issues that truly matter. He is cutting through the worthless clutter and calling people out for focusing on non-issues that serve nothing more than political purposes. I look forward to TYT on MSNBC but I am glad Ed is where he is. I look forward to seeing much more Ed!

1. Do you know how Ed's ratings are?

They have to be better for MSNBC than before!

14. It looks like he is consistently running 3rd in his slot for cable news right now.
But that is where MSNBC runs all night right now. He gets about the same amount of viewers AC360 gets.

2. He just had Mayor Virg Bernero on again.
Mayor of Lansing who is an unashamed champion of the blue-collar workers.

3. He had an interesting segment on his radio show - a NJ wingnut vs a Florida mom of servicemen.
She held her own well, but what was impressive is how Ed just let them go at it. How very Dem/liberal of him to not take it as an opportunity to listen to his own voice!

Ed is too "rah rah rah!" on Obama for me... I got sick of him after his second day. His radio show isn't much better. He hangs up on callers too quickly and is a shameless self-promoter.

21. Really? I thought he had been pretty challenging to Obama lately.
not as much as Rachel, but still. I'm very happy with Ed, listen to him on the radio as well. My only complaint is that he gives the RWers TOO much time, esp. on TV. Similar complaint with Rachel.

26. I wouldn't say that. Ed is the only liberal talk show host who is really strong for
--single payer health care. Obama does not have that on the table, but Ed couldn't care less.

6. When I first heard him on the radio...
I thought he was Rush Limbaugh, then I thought, 'This guy is telling the truth and making sense. This is not fucking Limbaugh!' I had read that Ed was pretty much a moderate. If he is indeed a moderate, more like this, please. The guy is great at getting our liberal points across to people who are afraid of the word, 'liberal'.

7. I was just asking my wife...
Why do they not re-run Ed's Show so we can see it later if we miss it? I agree that Ed is a good spokesman for the middle class.

15. They do replay Ed at
3am....Monday thru Thursday and I'm unsure about Friday or actually Saturday morning at 3am due to MSNBC changing the progam to Prison life stories and such on the weekend.

16. I'm impressed with him
His radio show was no great shakes, but MSNBC seems to have given him the resources he needs to do some dynamite shows.

The show he did after the Baucus hearings was a classic, the way TV SHOULD be.

18. Ed is the Man,
he beat morning joke like a rented mule, when he was a guest the other morning, those Reich wingers were beside themselves and they didn't have any truthful answers to his questions!

Morning joke claimed he talked to Democrats in Congress that wanted Pelosi to step down, but couldn't name even one, morning joke is a republiCON liar.

20. I'm actually glad they keep Morning Joe around. It provides a little bit of diversity.
There isn't much else on MSNBC with a view from the right. Looking at Fox News I don't see anyone representing the viewpoint of the left and it is part of what makes them crap. The closest thing they have is Shep Smith and he only looks slightly centrist next to everyone else over there. Morning Joe provides a slight balance to MSNBC.

22. I think the problem is that there ought to be balance and REAL journalism on every network,
and who is a real journalist among these hacks? These jabberers aren't journalists...they're just people giving their (corporate-sponsored) "opinions." They have no allegiance to objective "truth." These shows are obscene, IMO. The Jerry Springer of morning news.

29. Yes, thanks for bringing up the word "Truth"!
Edited on Sat May-23-09 11:03 PM by checks-n-balances
Although truth is a slippery thing for the post-modern rethugs, especially since they've made such a practice of trying to rewrite history.

I wish the Corporate Media would just be "Fair and Truthful"! Just so we could, you know, be more of a Democracy...

Oh yeah, and I am happy and impressed with Big Eddie on MSNBC so far!

25. I'm surprised how good Ed's show is I now TIVO it each day...Ed is tougher
than I anticipated...He's got an excellent show on MSNBC....However, he does give republicans a bit to much of a voice....But Ed is a strong Union advocate and that goes a long way with me and millions of others and always will!
