Louisiana House unknowingly votes for stimulus override

BATON ROUGE — The House has unanimously agreed to override Gov. Bobby Jindal's rejection of $98 million in federal stimulus dollars to expand Louisiana unemployment benefits. But it's unlikely most House members even knew what they were voting for.

Democratic Rep. Avon Honey quietly slipped the language to sidestep Jindal's refusal of the stimulus dollars into another unemployment bill on the House floor Monday evening. There was no discussion about what the changes did.

The House then quickly approved the bill, which initially hadn't been controversial, and sent it to the Senate for debate.

3. Oh don't get me wrong, this is a good thing
I am just always amazed at how stupid, Republicans think, the American people are. This is their excuse to their base to keep them in somewhat good graces while still getting much needed funding. It passed because they didn't know about it...Right!!! What is funny about this excuse if one were to give it any thought is they are admitting to complete negligence on their part in representing their constituents. They are supposed to read bills before voting on them. That is their job and they are saying they didn't bother...

7. I would bet that most legislators don't know what's in the bills they vote on
And that becomes more true the further you go up in government.
