26. And to think they were actually going to tear it down some time back.
I do miss the Market..nothing quite like it.
It used to be a Sunday morning routine...fresh bread, the paper, fish or crab for dinner menu,
coffee, some of Ivar's thick goopy chowder.
sigh....

13. Agosto, whew!
I will be in Florence next April with some buddies on an art intensive that I am designing.

The book and the movie (the old one, not the TV remake) was sheer joy. I recently saw the movie again just to watch the superb acting, cinematography and use of Puccini's "La Rondine" aria.

Where do you stay when you are there?

my mom and her bf who booked an apartment near Pisa. We will make a day trip to Florence.

I have to watch the movie again. I think I am able to be a prompter in case they forget their words

:)

Miss Honeychurch is the main character in the book by E.M. Forster (and in the movie of course - played by Helena Bonham-Carter)

16. I will be taking day trips when I am in Florence also.
I'm actually following some itineraries laid out in a book called "Art for Travelers." It details the fabulous Renaissance art you can find in towns in Tuscany. I am one of those (like Miss Honeychurch) who get "Stendahlismo" in Florence and anyplace where the art is overpowering, e.g. the Borghese in Rome where I damn near fainted in front of the Bernini sculptures...

19. I flew to L.A. last October to see the Bernini busts at the Getty. Had to see "Costanza."
I despaired of seeing her at the Bargello, but then I found a buddy who wants to go to Florence, so I guess I'll see her again in April.

24. Have you seen Simon Schama's "Power of Art" TV series? He has a whole segment on
Bernini and how Costanza came to be one of his most famous works. It's on youtube.

Of course, you'll get a chance to see her at the Bargello when you go to Florence in August...
