Wilkerson On CIA: "There's A Bent To The Way They're Briefing"
By Zachary Roth - May 15, 2009, 11:22AM

Nancy Pelosi's claim that the CIA mislead her in torture briefings has received support from a new source: Larry Wilkerson, the retired US Army colonel who served as chief of staff to Colin Powell.

Wilkerson told TPMmuckraker that he's been present for similar CIA briefings, and that the agency briefs only "very limitedly," and "very selectively."

"There's a bent to the way they're briefing," said Wilkerson. "They've got an angle."

Asked what that angle would have been in Pelosi's case, Wilkerson said the CIA would likely have presented the information as: "These are the things that were considering under this program," rather than, this is what we've done.

5. Here's What I Don't Get ...
... who cares?

Pelosi is not, was not, in any position to do anything about any information she might or might not have had regarding the military and CIA. Cheney-Bush was 'commander-in-chief' of the military, and the CIA is an executive department.

So, the simple response to all this attempt by the repugs to drag a red herring into the torture scandal with Pelosi is resolved by the fact that she had no power over anyone involved. Are they complaining because if she was told about torture that she could have ran screaming down the mall in DC yelling "Torture! Torture! Torture!"? Or are they complaining because they are now agreeing that torture is bad?

Seriously, I don't know why Pelosi and Dem talkers aren't just saying that it was Cheney-Bush who could and did order/approve torture and nobody else. Any other charges or accusations are really quite beside the point.
