Marie Osmond: I support gay rights
In an interview with Los Angeles radio station KOST 103.5 on Monday, Marie Osmond confirmed that her oldest daughter Jessica is a lesbian — calling her a “magnificent woman” and stating that she supports her daughter and believes in equal rights for gays and lesbians under the law.

Osmond’s public support of her daughter is significant, because Osmond is the highest profile Mormon thus far to come out in support of marriage equality — or at least giving gay and lesbian couples the same rights afforded to heterosexual couples

12. He's moving to NH -- where they have same-sex marriage???

But I thought he was a resident of Utah (oh no -- that was just for taxes)

But maybe a resident of Massachusetts (oh no -- that was just to run for office)

And now New Hampshire -- Oh that's right, no state taxes (and the roads and the schools to prove it).

2. While I applaud her stand and see it as a right step
I hope its not just because her daughter is a lesbian. Not to belittle at all her stance. We have no children and we support whole heartedly the entire citizenship situation for gays. This is the land of the free, not the land of the party of NO! Its a shame conservatives hate the constitution because it allows for freedoms and liberties to people they hate.

which I don't see as a bad thing. Sometimes it takes an issue hitting close to home to make people shift positions.

26. I thought about that too. But ...
... it could be a good thing too.

She's showing people that it's okay to change/open your mind.

She's also showing people that even someone as "heterosexual" as an Osmond can raise a GLBT child, which really means that gay people are in everyone's family.

I remember when she spoke out about her depression and how even that subject got haters out of the word work. I remember thinking how brave she was to speak out and how ridiculous it was for all those people to be attacking her.

She's okay in my book.

5. I like this
Not the ideal coming around of thought, but coming around nonetheless.
The Osmonds have always been outspoken Mormons...and perhaps the entire clan will now become outspoken advocates of Gay Rights. That would be awesome.
Perhaps there is a gleaming hope for Utah after all...especially after the breath of fresh air that Rocky Anderson was.

Which is good enough for me not to boycott Nutri System, but not good enough for me to buy one of her albums or pay to see her in concert.

You want to be able to tell people how many children they should have? Really?

I'm glad you aren't Dictator.

19. No. I just want people to be responsible.
If people cared about the quality of life of their offspring, maybe they wouldnt be so inclined to tax the Earths natural resources. The earth cant handle endless humans. Every thinking person knows this. Yet, people are more worried about their "right" to birth 10 kids than they are about the quality of live that those kids and their kids will enjoy. Its a joke.

23. She claimed to have EIGHT.. she's given birth to 3
according to wiki:

Osmond has been married and divorced twice and has eight children in total from the two marriages. She married her first husband Stephen Craig, a Brigham Young University basketball player, in 1982. They had one child, Stephen James Craig, who was born on April 20, 1983. Osmond and Craig divorced in the mid 1980s after Craig admitted that he was not ready to be either married or a father.

On October 28, 1986 Osmond married Brian Blosil in a Latter-day Saints wedding ceremony. While married to Blosil, Osmond had two more children, Rachael Lauren in 1989 and Matthew Richard in 1999. They also adopted five children: Jessica Marie in 1987, Michael Brian in 1991, Brandon Warren in 1997, Brianna Patricia in 1998, and Abigail Michelle in 2002. Brian Blosil also adopted Marie's son from her previous marriage as his own, Stephen James Craig Blosil.

28. She has eight, then.
It's not like her adopted children are any less hers, are they?

Good for her, though. Lots of pro-natalists don't adopt - they ONLY want their own little DNA replicants, and all the other children in the world can go hang (when they aren't fetuses anymore, that is). I applaud people who satisfy their desire for lots of children by giving loving homes to those already here and in need of them.

17. Good for her and her daughter. Marie has come a long way from
a religion that is restrictive towards women. She's had some personal bumps in the road with marriage, depression, etc. I'm glad she's come forward to say this publicly to let the rest of her religious crowd know that they don't need to be so narrow-minded.
