Benedict Arlen says he wants Sore-Loser Coleman to win in courts against Senator-Elect Al Franken
Specter Wants Coleman to Win

In an interview with the New York Times Magazine, Sen. Arlen Specter (D-PA) said he hopes Norm Coleman (R) prevails in his Senate recount court fight against Al Franken (D) in Minnesota.

Said Specter: "There's still time for the Minnesota courts to do justice and declare Norm Coleman the winner."

If Specter is looking for a Democratic primary opponent, this statement will certainly help him get one.

1. no one donate. One cent to Specter. Not one cent.
Its time to draft Sestak. Who cares what Obama, Reid, or Pelosi say.

2. Thom Hartman already donated $20 to Benedict Arlen the day he "switched parties".
I wonder if he wants it back now?

4. Isn't Sestak even farther right than Specter?
We don't want to kick Arlen out only to get someone worse. We can do much better.

3. Is it possible to exclude Specter from the Democratic party?
and prevent him from calling himself a Democrat?

11. He doesn't, though. He votes with the Republicans more often than the Dems.
Perhaps "Prefers Arlen" would work.

5. That's it. We should all implore Sestak to run. This is
untenable. :grr:

14. But...but...but Specter makes #60!!!!!!!
Edited on Tue May-05-09 04:35 PM by Hong Kong Cavalier
I heard it here.

This is just another sign (In what is starting to be a considerably sized list) that Specter switched parties to save his ass. Not to give us 60 votes in the Senate.
Where's the guarantee that he'll vote for cloture on any threatened filibuster?

For that matter, why don't we actually make the GOP filibuster. Get a few cots. Start reading old recipes. Actually do it. None of this "We're thinking about maybe, possibly filibustering, so you gotta try to scrape together 60 people." crap. If we actually forced the GOP to seriously filibuster bills, their approval rating would fast become negative numbers, and they'd be totally flushed out of Congress.

15. That's not how filibusters work nowadays.
The rules don't state that debate ends if nobody's talking, as they used to. Now debate does not end until there are 60 votes for cloture, whether they're talking or not. The days of cots and shit are decades in the past.

23. As far as I know, the support was only explicitly promised for the GE.
It would be surprising for a President to support either candidate in a primary.
