I guess he leads the pack. I though Guiliani would come in first.

Romney Raises $23M -- Tops GOP Field
Ex-MA Gov. Mitt Romney raised $23M this quarter, more than enough to top the field of Republican contenders.

That Romney was able to squeeze so many low hanging fruit sources in what has inarguably been a rough political quarter for him speaks highly of the relationships he’s cultivated over these years. It's also a testament to his fundraising team, led by Spencer Zwick, and the campaign's technologically advanced ComMitt activism platform. All Romney's money was raised into his primary campaign accounts.

Romney's burn rate -- tbd.

We await Sen. John McCain to report in. That might happen tomorrow.

His advisers are steeling themselves for a sobering number. Our educated estimate is that, of the top tier Republicans, McCain will raise the third most amount of money and have the third most on hand.

3. The Romney money is symptomatic . . .
Of a party desperate to find *anyone* who can win against Clinton, Obama, Edwards, et al, regardless of whether their candidate believes *anything* that's been in their platform for years.

After 6-plus years of Bush, they're fully cognizant of the fact that ideology is bullshit and only power matters. The 'Licans'd run Michael Moore if they thought he'd win.

8. Actually I did not think that JFK was funded by the Catholics.
Edited on Mon Apr-02-07 09:53 PM by jwirr
Many of us Lutherans and Protestants also funded him. One of the reasons I say the Mormons will bankroll him is because they told a friend of mine, who moved his church into Salt Lake City, that their Mormon church was destined to take over the country when the government falls apart. There will be people in the church who will assume the time has come and fulfill their obligations to that idea by funding Mr. Romney. I want to know that he knows better.

Bigoted? Maybe, but what I want to know is what are his views regarding welfare - Mormon friends tell me they take care of their own. What are his views on the environment? The end times, etc.? When he was Governor of MA how did his religion play in the way he governed.

At least when JFK ran he was supported by Catholics who did not expect him to ask the Pope how to run the country. That is what I want. I have had enough of *ss and his rw idiots. I want separation of Church and State.
