CNN had report that FDA still won't release name of US Contractor (Wheat Gluten)
Edited on Mon Apr-02-07 09:42 AM by KoKo01
and still says it can't be 100% sure if the tainted Wheat Gluten is in the human food supply.

Why? How many days has it been since this recall? And didn't the company know back in December?

Who will hold the FDA accountable and why is the media not crawling all over this with the fervor they did Ana Nicole Smith?

Isn't our food safety an issue that is of HIGHEST IMPORTANCE?

Or, is it so bad the Bushies are covering ...worried about another Katrina type story where folks could be sick or died or become sick and die because of their incompetence.

Gut tells me it's bad news or there would be more information rather than a two minute update of the same story on the hour in the media.

BTW: as of this post CNN's Website doesn't even have the "Pet Food Recall" as one of their top stories. Here's what they have:

* Iran: Captured British troops confessed | Video Video
* Dems rebuff efforts to rush Gonzales testimony
* 'Our worst fears': Missing brothers found dead
* Rescue clip has thin white arm, ink-dark water Video
* Amish school shooting survivors back in class
* Clinton, Edwards raise record millions
* EMI-Apple pen deal to sell songs
* Deputy learns signs after finding cult suicides Video
* SI.com: Trump keeps hair; McMahon gets scalped
* 'Daily Show' mocks CNN's 'guinea pig' reporter Video
* Sean Lennon used to being recognized, sort of
* SI.com: 10 questions for baseball's new season
* CNN Wire: Latest updates on world's top stories

Since when is human life important to them?

18. Soylent Green food from China -- could be the story -- they are covering up
Edited on Mon Apr-02-07 10:46 PM by PhilipShore
Think about it; the terrorists dig up a bunch of graves, then have some of their people in China put a percentage of it in the food supply -- such as Wheat Gluten -- and then it goes into the food chain via the Reaganomic deregulated food chain everywhere -- in all our food.

19. i did. today. i went through EVERYTHING with a freakin magnifying glass
and i tossed out:

a frozen loaf of wonder bread

2 banquet frozen dinners (lasagna w/meat sauce meal & turkey meal)

1 healthy choice frozen dinner (grilled chicken monterey)

1 box of morningstar mushroom lover's burgers

2 packages of hostess mini muffins, blueberry (came in a box with four packages)

365 cereal bars, strawberry, low fat (from whole foods--organic wheat gluten!)

and i will be returning:

1 box kellogg's nutri grain yogurt bars, vanilla
2 boxes of kellogg's nutri grain cereal bars, strawberry

it's not THAT much that went out in the garbage (i recycled the packaging & tv dinner trays and plastic bread bag)

it took me quite awhile to go through the cupboards and fridge but now the only thing i have to worry about is bringing more into the house.

21. I'm not throwing it out, but I AM saving it just in case
I have some food that I'm not too sure about.

Not on the list, but fed to my dog and she got sick shortly after eating it.

I am keeping the other cans in case that food ends up on the recall,
in case its needed.

Right now, feeding my dogs cheap prepacked deli turkey and ham,
and some Purina One dried food. (I know some Purina wet food is recalled).
Supposedly no wheat gluten. - I have little dogs. Otherwise, if you have big dogs,
it might be safer to give them table scraps. I have seen some really healthy,
maybe a bit fat - dogs that ate mostly table scraps.

Feeding the cats Purina one dried for senior cats - no wheat gluten
and "Fancy Feast".

Maybe most of the dog and cat food is really just crap, and has been making
pets sick for a long time.

Maybe thats why they don't seem to like some foods - cause the food is crap.

- waiting to see the real cause of pet illnesses.

7. My gut says the same thing
and I'm especially worried since I don't eat meat.

I'm reasonably sure the seitan in the health food store is produced by a small company here in the US, and I'm reasonably sure they use organic wheat that has been tested for contaminants.

You just never know, though.

For all the libertarians out there, this is what small government with no power to regulate the market means. Do you really want the burden of having to sue an overseas company on your own after your kid dies from adulterated food?

22. consider that "Whole Foods" was very coy about their canned dog food
makes you wonder about the rest of their food.

I like to shop Whole Foods, and have bought the organic
grass raised beef there, figuring I could trust them.

But Whole Foods refused to answer as to where their store brand
canned pet food was made.

10. The FDA has been taken over, defunded and emasculated by Bush**
We can't blame the FDA without going to the heart of the problem and blaming Bush** for politicizing and rendering useless every effin' government agency WE pay for. I certainly don't expect anything approaching the truth from these agencies anymore.

as I suspect. ADM is a huge employer in Illinois, and the largest purchaser of soybeans.

23. Ok, check out this thread about ADM...
Edited on Tue Apr-03-07 12:22 AM by rainbow4321
Going out on a limb here...might be time to connect the dots (no thanks to the MSM, of course). Does chimp have connections to this former oil person? Read thru the thread below for more possible dots.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=560863&mesg_id=560863

According to the above thread, ADM was the only company who didn't return the media's phone call about them being a supplier for wheat gluten. Googling the company, the CEO is a former oil company person--Chevron/Texaco/Gulf Oil Corp.

http://www.admworld.com/naen/about/leadership.asp

Gulf Oil Corporation in 1977 and held positions in refining, marketing, strategic planning and finance. Following the merger of Gulf and Chevron in 1987, Pat gained experience in leading international operations and a global workforce as President of Chevron Canada and later Chevron International Oil Company. With the merger of Chevron and Texaco in 2001, Pat was named Executive Vice President in charge of the company’s refining, marketing, lubricant, and supply and trading operations. She retired from Chevron in March 2006.
