Does a Judicial Nominee Need at Least One Repuke to Get Out of Committee?
I just read on a fuxnews site that the committee will need at least on repuke supporting any nomination for it to get out of committee. With the Specter switch, the Dems will be forced to rely on Lindsey Graham or another repuke. Is that how is works?

1. Well, technically it doesn't need to get out of committee to be voted on
by the full Senate...also, with Specter switching, Reid should start shuffling the committees, since it's 60-40 they shoudl drop one Repuke off Judiciary and add a Dem...no repukes necessary now.

4. Actually, it's not about the raw votes, but about the Judiciary committee rules

The current rules in the judiciary committee require that at least 1 member of the opposition party support a vote to send it out of committee. The judiciary committee will have to change it's rules (which it can), or this will still be the case. That's how I understand it, anyway.

2. I think it's simple majority and Dems hold the majority

5. They need a majority
And that Judicary bench is purposively stacked with the type of senators that will ensure stuff gets done. I find it interesting that Joe Biden's former Chief of Staff and replacement for Joe in the SEnate, Ed Kauffman, is in the committee. It seems that Joe will have a voice in committee thru his very close friend.
