Okay, I had the flu three weeks ago--worst I've had since I had my child nine years ago. In fact, she came home from camp sick with it. I felt like shit and I swear for three nights my fever wouldn't go away. No one was even talking about it then. Damn. I could have had a T-shirt that said, "I survived the swine flu"...

...oh, and I live in Texas toox(

2. Yes. I am wondering how many have had it.
After all, when I have the flu I stay home rather than go get tested because I just take care of myself. Getting tested would tell me "yes, you have the flu, now go home and take care of yourself". \On the other hand, there have been some really nasty "regular" rinfluenza strains going around this yr.

the year that I had the flu so bad, I went to the doctor and all he gave me was Tamiflu. It was too late for that. I had not had it since then until this latest bout. I told my spouse the other day:next year I get a flu shot.

However, now that I think about it, my daughter DID have a flu shot and she still got it. Hmmm...

7. Flu shots -
Edited on Thu Apr-30-09 11:53 PM by Tangerine LaBamba
Eh. I get one because I have an autoimmune disorder and take drugs to suppress my hyperactive immune system, so my rheumatologist insists on it. But, a flu shot only protects against a slim number of viruses that cause various forms of influenza.

So, your daughter's bad luck wasn't unusual.

The side effects from Tamiflu can be just as bad as the flu itself........................

it's hard to be sick when you have kids too! My spouse drives for a living and was out of town that week. I felt like I was going to die! My kids did good though. They covered me up with two comforters continuously.

9. I did as well. Both my partner and I spent a week in bed a piece. And I don't normally get the flu.
And we're in Texas. Hmm. Maybe it was seasonal--a real bad strain-- or maybe it started here? Makes ya wonder.

10. I had something too, in March - & I normally don't get sick.
One day of sore throat, one of steady sneezing, one of uncontrollable runny nose (used up two rolls of TP in 1 day), then a week plus of feeling weak, no appetite, slightly nauseous.

Even after recovery I still felt weak, & still haven't recovered my previous muscular or lung function.

Weird bug.

12. You could have?
I thought it hadn't been around long enough for too many people to have contracted it.
