Argentina suspends flights from Mexico over swine flu

BUENOS AIRES, April 28 (Reuters) - The Argentine government suspended flights from Mexico on Tuesday, the second country to restrict travel because of a deadly outbreak of swine flu.

The ban applies to direct flights from Mexico and takes effect on Wednesday until Monday, Cabinet Chief Sergio Massa told reporters.

Argentina's decision came hours after the Cuban government suspended flights to and from Mexico for 48 hours in a move to prevent the illness from reaching the Caribbean island.

The Argentine government has not reported any confirmed cases of swine flu, blamed in the deaths of 149 people in Mexico and has the potential to turn into a world pandemic.
