Rick Perry is an Idiot
Less than two weeks after raising the prospect of seceding from the union, Texas Gov. Rick Perry is calling on the federal government to come to his state's aid in the midst of the swine flu outbreak.

1. Ok, you Texas media outlets. Let's see you rise to the occasion here
for this uncontested lay-up.

"Government is evil," Perry suggests, "and we Texans may become so frustrated that we'll have to secede from the Union. No, wait -- swine flu? Send support, Federal Government! Please!"

The ideological landscape shifts so fast with Perry that he didn't have time inbetween condemning government as an alien unfeeling entity and begging it for support to fight swine flu to apologize to Rush Limbaugh.

3. LOL
I liked it.

But shouldn't that be "Boss" Limbaugh?

4. Yep -- "Boss" might be just right for ol' Rush.
He sure is casting a mighty long shadow on the modern-day Republican Party. And that's not a good thing for the Republican Party.

7. That's what Olbermann calls him
I like it.

"Boss" Limbaugh, the de facto head of the GOP.

Check this out:

In GOP base, a 'rebellion brewing'

A quick tour through the week’s headlines suggests the Republican Party is beginning to come to terms with the last election and that consensus is emerging among GOP elites that the party needs to move away from discordant social issues.

snip

But outside Washington, the reality is very different. Rank-and-file Republicans remain, by all indications, staunchly conservative, and they appear to have no desire to moderate their views. GOP activists and operatives say they hear intense anger at the White House and at the party’s own leaders on familiar issues – taxes, homosexuality, and immigration. Within the party, conservative groups have grown stronger absent the emergence of any organized moderate faction.

There is little appetite for compromise on what many see as core issues, and the road to the presidential nomination lies – as always – through a series of states where the conservative base holds sway, and where the anger appears to be, if anything, particularly intense.

That sort of "Clinton era anger" isn't gonna win 'em any elections any time soon.

12. The GOP loved 'em some Limbaugh when he was marshalling their base,
stoking their anger, braying like a jackass from the dashboard of many an automobile for lo these many years.

Now Limbaugh is the problem. And he has this huge a) ego b) opioid addiction c) ditto-head contingent who moved in with the "Boss" and are more or less stinking up the place d) all of the above.

So there's the Limbaugh-fueled hot-head reactionaries. There's the Fungus on the Family gang of fundie nutbags. There's the corporate heavies who want to be paid multi-million buck bonuses to dump neurotoxins into the groundwater. And there's the complacent mainstream media who never liked any Democrat to begin with, nevermind THIS Democrat.

By their fruitcakes we shall know them.

"Boss" is the right term alright.

2. Rick is a total fool. He's real GOP timber because of that alone.
I hope he continues to sink his political ambitions and the GOP along with them.

6. Governor Goodhair is an idiot
Water is wet.

Film at eleven.

I can't wait until hurricane season. Think that independent country of Texas will be able to handle whatever damage - I hope it doesn't happen, seriously - might occur?

Ah, such subtleties are, of course, lost on these cretins. Witness the wildfires in South Carolina. What do you think Governor Sanford - he of the "I will not accept stimulus funds" - is counting on now? Local fire departments? Volunteers?

9. Wow! Good point!
It really is gonna come back to haunt 'em, isn't it?

(And no, I don't want anyone hurt in a hurricane, either.)

10. It wouldn't take that long
If they seceded, they'd be overrun by Mexican drug cartels within a week.
