Florida Dem Chair Misleading Public In Fund Raising Letter. Corporatist Election Bill Dropped!
April 23, 2009 Fund raising Letter from Florida Democratic Party $ Unbelievable stretching of the truth by Florida Democratic Party Chair!

Florida Democrats Florida Democrats

Dear Friend,

It's been a great few weeks here. We not only reached our goal of 500 donors standing up last week, but over 512 people reached into their wallets for the first time to make a stand to help Floridians get the help they need and President Obama fought to get us. :hurts: Chairwoman... What about the $3,500 per month per diem the chair continues to cash from former Chair of The Republican Party of Florida, Al Cardenas? :wtf:

Your support of our party in Florida is overwhelming, and we let the Republicans in Tallahassee know where you stand. In the last week of the legislative session, our Democratic legislators are: (The democratic legislators are sooo few in number they have for all practical purposes, NO say in anything that goes on in Tally!) The phone calls and emails from the people prompted by the mass email campaigns of Kindra Muntz, John Russell and MANY others made the difference, yet this pathetic pol takes credit? :puke:

* Working to get all of the recovery money to Florida, so we don't let Republicans block President Obama's efforts to jump start our economy.
* Protecting our right to vote from a last minute partisan assault, because the Republican Leaders are trying to make it harder for Floridians to vote and end the type of voter registration drives that helped President Obama win Florida. NOT A WORD TO MOUNT ANY EFFORT! The Florida Democratic Party Stood SILENT! Thurman Takes Credit?
* Fighting to end the Republican waste, fraud and abuse in government and balance the budget without hurting Florida's working families.
* Blocking Republican plans to drill for crude oil just 3 miles off Florida's coasts, which further endangers Florida's tourism economy and risks polluting our precious beaches. NO EFFORT HERE EITHER! Taking credit for WHAT?

Your support is helping us fight back - thank you. WHAT FIGHT? NONE that I have seen! Conservatives irrespective of their party affiliation stick together for the benefit of their corporate benefactors who keep THEIR nests well feathered!

While the state faces a dramatic budget deficit and 11th hour bills are being pushed through with almost no debate or transparency, Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink and our Democratic Legislators are working hard every day to protect taxpayers' dollars and hold government more accountable. These people are not the Florida Democratic Party!

Senator Bill Nelson and our congressional Democrats are fighting for us in Washington - and now that Senator Martinez has announced his retirement, we are working to make sure that another Florida Democrat will join Nelson to serve in the Senate. Bill Nelson a Democrat? :puke: Bankruptcy ReformYES! Military Commissions ActYES! Etc... We DO NOT NEED ANY, and I REPEAT ANY... MORE dems like this dope! Enough of the astronaut bullsh*t!

This next election in November of 2010 is going to be a great opportunity for us to build on our victory in 2008. With an open US Senate seat, legislative races, and the possibility of more open seats in the next few weeks, we could have a once in a generation opportunity to change Florida and turn it blue for years to come.

:wtf: To elect more republicrats? NO THANKS!!!

I know we are going to win in 2010. :puke:Same BS she says EVERY election cycle and it and her hand selected ex REPUBLICAN candidates get worse EVERY TIME! We are going to do it the same way we won Florida for President Obama 2008 - with the hard work of thousands of Floridians like you. What "koolaid" is she drinking %&$hic*@#&% :hangover: EVERYONE IN FLORIDA knows that OUT OF STATE OBAMA TEAM STAFF GOT OBAMA THE FLORIDA WIN WHILE OUR LEGISLATIVE CANDIDATES had their votes flipped due to the well known "curiosities" of the Florida Election System!

:freak: I know from what you've done in the last few weeks - from standing up to Attorney General Bill McCollum to helping President Obama pass his budget by writing letters to the editors of Florida's newspapers - we will be able to count on you for help as we we're gearing up for the mid-term elections by recruiting candidates, training activist, developing our message, and registering new voters. :woohoo: :sarcasm: Lets get together and elect some right wing "democrats" some of which are more right than the republicans they want to replace.

Thank you for everything you've done for Florida- standing with us and creating change in Tallahassee. I promise to keep you up to date as the legislative session ends and as we get ready for our annual Jefferson-Jackson Dinner in Miami at the end of May. Legislative session... You have NOT provided WORD ONE thus far and are full of the smelliest kind of BS when you write fund raising emails/letters the likes of this trash! :spank:

 INTERESTINGLY... the chair mentions nothing about electing a democratic governor... given her well known quote describing Republican Governor Charlie Crist as... "Charlie Crist is a good DEMOCRAT and we need to support him!" Can't wait to see who wants to take that kind of baggage on as a candidate.

It is sick to even begin to ponder the state of the Florida Democratic party... Its ALL about democrats NOT being competitive, i.e., How can we democrats be like... "MORE LIKE REPUBLICANS?" :argh:
Sincerely,

Congresswoman Karen L. Thurman
Chair, Florida Democratic Party

NOW...
Go to www.fladems.com and see if you see ANYTHING about any of the *POINTS* of achievement/merit? made in Thurman's pleas for funds. Mostly High School quality tit for tat nah, nah, nah, nah nah kind of crap! This is just a sampling of WHY the Florida Democratic Party with its present "leadership" and objectives represents such a danger to not only the people of Florida, but the nation as a whole. Then you can :puke:

What good are open seats when the premier candidate for the Democratic Party is a former right wing Republican? Watch this over and over... the corruption, the inepetitude! No matter the party, if we continue to operate government by and for the benefit of corporate America, We The People will not prevail.

This is directly copied from the Florida Democratic Party website, influencing few except those who are fully bought into FlaDem propaganda no matter the results.

:think:Florida post election 2008 is REDDER than Ever and w/ any opportunity to elect a progressive Democrat he/she will most assuredly have a well financed CONSERVATIVE "dem?" put up to knock said progressive off in the primary. It IS ALL ABOUT preserving the status quo.. Power for the corporation and position for these all to willing puppets for said corporate string pullers! This cannot be refuted!

Again, :wtf: NOT WORD ONE ABOUT THE CONTENTIOUS ELECTION REFORM BILL WHICH INDIVIDUALS AND CITIZEN ACTION EFFORTS SUCCESSFULLY FOUGHT OFF WITHOUT ANY HELP FROM THE PURPOSEFULLY INCOMPETENT democratic party... Yet Thurman takes credit. pitiful!

3. What's this about? Karen Thurman has been MIA...
How can she say she's working on the election bill when there's been no quotes in the newspaper? No rallies? No email press releases? Nada! All she does is ask for donations to pay her salary of $100K+.

2. The Fla Dem Party disgusts me.
They're a bunch of corporatists that only care about retaining a piece of lobbyist pie for themselves. They fight against progressive candidates more than they fight the RePukes. They're a bunch of spineless greedy sniveling cowards. Glad I got that off my chest, just don't ask me what I really think...

8. Giving reach arounds to the pukes, I assume.
And the latest? Crist is an 'effin spineless wimp who cares about his next campaign more than he does the future of the state. His solution to the budget woes is NOT : A) raise taxes, nor B) more budget slashing. Nope, he wants to give the Seminole Tribe exclusive gambling rights, and have them pay 2 years up front, thus denying any future Governor the income. IOW, he plans to run for Martinez's Senate seat claiming he "solved" Fla's budget woes, when in reality he's just postponing them to dump in someone else's lap. What a piece of shit.

House votes to strengthen Fla. school voucher program Updated at 10:13 PM

Source: Miami Herald

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- A private school voucher program for children from low-income families would be strengthened by a bill the House passed Thursday, but critics say it would be another financial blow for public education.

Businesses now can take a dollar-for-dollar credit against their corporate income tax obligation for donations to the program.

The bill would let insurance companies get the same kind of credit against premium taxes they collect from their customers. That's expected to result in more money for the voucher program that spent $73.5 million in the last school year. It would remain capped, though, at $118 million a year.

.....

Rep. Kelly Skidmore, D-Boca Raton, also noted that many of the private schools in the voucher program are parochial. "I don't feel that my taxes now need to pay for someone else's religious education," Skidmore said.

Both sides have been using the same debating points since Florida adopted its first voucher program advocated by then-Gov. Jeb Bush in 1999.

4. Thurman and the FDP have NEVER worked on election reform
EVER! Natta. They even backed out of a rally in their own backyard in Tallahassee. We, the grassroots got this done....and the bill was dropped. We all worked our groups...they all made the calls. The party did not do a thing.

This notice from the FDP is absurd!!

7. John R Told Me That Thurman Told Him That She Did Not Want To "Turn Off" Voters
Even IF The System was corrupt and you could not depend on the votes being counted... Thurman would rather keep the voters in the dark rather than solve the problem and have an election system that could be trusted. :freak: She IS a less than savory individual to be head of a state party. :puke:

10. I was with John Russell and Jim Clarke at the 2005 FDP Convention.
It was right after Thurman took over, and we told her, in a personal conversation, that she had to do something to straighten out the election system and get rid of touch screens.

I was on the voting machine task force, and we gave her specific recommendations, and she just poo-pooed the whole idea.

She's totally useless- except for getting repukes elected.

Actually, if the GOp were left to their own devices, they might lose the state, but there is always a Thurman, Wasserman - Schulz or Nelson to help them.

13. John Russell IS As Progressive As You'll Find Anywhere. We Need Cali To Help Elect People Like Him
John Russell is feared by Corporatist from both parties because he makes total sense. The Corporatists will go to ANY length to prevent the people from hearing his voice because he threatens their foolish self-serving message.

Watch these conservatives at this Tea Party buy in to single payer health care when John explains it to them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBJAkCjjz1Y
