Are the Tea Parties backfiring on Fox News and any Republican backers?
Edited on Sat Apr-18-09 04:54 PM by ck4829
Here are some examples:

* Rush was caught today hoping that the Tea Party goers don't abandon the Republican Party.

* J. Gresham Barrett, very conservative Republican representative, was booed and shouted down by tea party goers.

* Michael Steele got rejected to speak at a tea party.

Hey Republicans, that "silent majority" you supposedly woken up might do something crazy, like take votes away from you and put it into a third party.

Maybe it's time you started courting the moderates instead of the fringe, but then again, it might be too late.

1. The more I watch these teabaggers the more I think they're Palin people
Edited on Sat Apr-18-09 04:35 PM by lunatica
We've all known they're part of our country but it's kind of surprising that they're as mad as they are. I look at them and see real seething resentment in their faces. I first noticed it when John McCain selected Palin as his running mate and she started really ratcheting up the hate rhetoric. Then Joe The Plumber came along with his hate.

I think they really hate the rest of America and that it isn't just racial. They hate everyone and everything that isn't them, including other countries and even other states. They surely hate the liberals no matter what sex or color. And I think a lot of their deep rage comes from having lost the power that McCain and Palin were promising them. They came so close, or at least they think they did.

3. Many of the cities
did not want the big party politicians or bosses to speak (yes some did.
It was a grassroots thinky.

That is way that congressperson got the boos. These rallies were attended by many Independents and Democrats (although the wackos got most of the coverage and many on DU gave the wack jobs coverage which only reinforced the myth that it was only RW)

4. You keep repeating that but offer no substantiation
Nothing I have seen substantiates your comments and it is logically difficult to believe.

16. It is typical to post substantiations when one portrays an item
as fact as opposed to opinion. You are claiming it a fact that many of those attending were Independents and Democrats (against all logic). I am simply asking you where you got your information.

I am not about to go on a wild google chase in an ill begotten attempt to substantiate your claims for you.

25. Don't expect a reply with links and substantiations.
That's not her style since she's probably used to posting on websites where information doesn't have to backed up with facts.

The FNC hypocrites are claiming credit, but the fact is that Hannity was calling out Democrats who voted against EESA/TARP when the vote was taken. Now he's against TARP? He's got two faces, and both lie.

This is called getting blindsided by an 18-wheeler:

http://www.viddler.com/explore/PalmettoScoop/videos/10/

That was a GOP Rep in South Carolina (Gresham Barrett) who voted for TARP (switching his vote at the last minute after promising to fight it). Wouldn't surprise me if it ends up being a career-ending event. Watch as his behavior diverges over time from the reality of what's happening in front of him.

Here's the career of a CNN reporter ending also (slightly NSFW):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1nRYw-OQ_E

CNN has been trying to get this video off of YouTube by filing copyright complaints. The reporter went on leave the next day.

Two examples, one on the right, the other (obstensibly) on the left, both getting their heads chewed off by the protest crowds. Edit: Protest crowds over 700 miles away from each other in distinctly different areas of the country, I should note.

line 1: is there supposed to be a close parenthesis mark somewhere?
line 2: did you mean "thingy?"
line 3: 3rd word, did you mean "why?"
line 4: did you mean "whackos" and "whack jobs?"

I am not mormally the spelling and grammar police, but you are parroting right-right talking points in a typical uniformed, uneducated, and unintelligent way. JMO.

21. You seem to be spending A LOT of energy defending the "authenticity" of these rallies
Edited on Sat Apr-18-09 05:49 PM by rvablue
when in fact it is a well-documented fact at this point that they were astroturf, corporate-sponsored circuses.

How do you know that many Independents and Democrats attended these events. If you don't want to be criticized for spewing RW talking points, why not just produce some links or proof.

Simply chanting it on here is not going to change a single mind, so you're just wasting your time and energy if you can't substantiate your baseless claims.

We'll see, if they drop this between now and July 4th then yeah, it probably did backfire and they let the air out if the tires of the whole operation.
