3. There are federal troops in EVERY state.
Perry is just trying to solidify his racist base against Kay Bailey Hutchinson.

4. He has a solid grip on the racist and the fundy vote. He's going for the Libertarian vote now.
Which is funny since they took just under 2% of the vote last gubernatorial election. He must be planning on cutting it really close this election cycle.

5. At the very least Obama needs to have a chat with him, or let the AG
send him a nice formal letter reminding him of the historic foolishness of such a statement.

6. LOL
Perry is just spouting a lot of hot air in
order to align himself with the extreme right
and lunatic fringers so that he can distinguish
himself from Kay Bailey and incite the crazed
limbaughtomized base to vote for him in the
upcoming gubernatorial primary.

I think Kay Bailey is a shoo in now... and that
a Dem.. hopefully Bill White.. will take her
place.

8. The Governor of Texas is considered the third most powerful person in Texas.
The Lieutenant Governor, as President of the Senate (And elected at the same time as the Governor but NOT on the same ticket) is considered more powerful That is just how the Government of Texas is and how unimportant the position of Governor is in Texas. The Speaker of the House has more power within the State Government (Thus the Governor is the fourth most powerful person in the state).

http://www.elpasoinc.com/readArticle.aspx?issueid=224&xrec=3811

http://texaspolitics.laits.utexas.edu/8_4_4.html

Worse the following EXECUTIVE positions are elected INDEPENDENT of the Governor:
* Department of Agriculture
* General Land Office
* Office of Attorney General
* Office of Lieutenant Governor
* Office of the Comptroller of Public Accounts
* State Board of Education (15)
* Texas Railroad Commission (3)

http://www.laits.utexas.edu/txp_media/html/bur/features/0404_01/agency.html

Furthermore the following positions are legally filled by the Governor, and confirmed by the Senate, but in effect they are appointed by the Lt Governor for without the Lt Governor's cooperation any appointee will never get a hearing let alone be consented to by the Texas Senate.

Thus the comment who cares what the Governor of Texas wants, it is the Lt Governor that is the important position and the one politicians who want real power in Texas fight to get, not the Governorship.

It really is a weak move by Obama...
to allow this crap to continue.

And, this is the sort of topic I love to read about. You would never hear the MSM suggest actually handling a problem. This is why this site is better than watching TV.
