I love David Shuster
From Twitter:

Shuster1600: Or, if it's an issue of pro-creating, perhaps the wing nuts should try and pass a law to keep elderly couples from getting married? Absurd.

1. He was GREAT at the end of Hardball today.
Got in the last word about how maybe we need to be more concerned about things that REALLY threaten marriage in this country: "You know...like...DIVORCE??"

Very impish about it, too.

2. He's winning me back ..............
I was completely put out with him when he kept running stories about Karl Rove's impending "indictment" during the Plame grand jury. Nice guy, but he completely blew it as far as I was concerned. Sloppy reporting, and never a retraction or an admission that he blew it.

But, with how he's been handling himself lately, I'm liking him. A lot .....................

3. Hey Tangerine ........ I'm glad you're giving him a second chance
I recall all too well the "Rove Indictment Any Minute Now/Cops On the Way To Arrest Him Right Fucking Now" brouhaha. Everyone **wanted** to believe. A few of us knew it wasn't going to happen. And yeah, Shuster was a flame fanner during that whole ugly/silly business. But he wasn't nearly as bad as that online guy (I forget his name now that his 15 minutes are long past). **That** guy was the one who kept everyone crazy for a few weeks with his unsubstantiated stories. Shuster had only a bit role.

I think Shuster's actually a pretty good guy who means well but occasionally fucks up.

Besides, (deleted very bad joke about his esteem in the eyes of a certain female presidential candidate). How bad can he be?

4. I'm getting warmer on Shuster .............
I'm glad you remember. But, what he's been doing has been admirable. I'm no daytime TV watcher, but in the more interesting times, I'll certainly watch his afternoon show. With pleasure.

Jason Leopold. (I don't know where Loeb went.) An orifice extraordinaire, and he's still writing for that nonsensical website, truthout. Still spinning stories, I suppose.

The joke. I WANT THE JOKE!!!!

(P.S. I just got a brand-new copy of The Sopranos Family Cookbook for $3.15 - alibris.com - and it looks SENSATIONAL! Good old Artie Bucco did a great job..................... )

5. Do you have Verizon Fios or Comcast?
Heh .... crazy Artie Bucco.

Y'ever see this? Its actually about Artie's alter ego, John Ventimiglia:

Oh yeah .... FIOS. Their On Demand service has a series of what were obviously pilots for a food show with Steve Schirripa. Clearly the show never got bought (they're on On Demand's "free" listing), but I enjoyed them. Schirripa seems like a genuinely nice guy.

7. I'm dying laughing here ............
Not just that poor Artie got busted, but did you go on and read the Sentencing Hearing transcript for Paulie Walnuts (Tony Sirico)? It's 15 pages, but it is well worth the time.

Thank you SO much for that. And, alas, we've got Comcast......................

9. Kids in cars cruising Main Street
Those cops were morons.

"They got worried when the back window of Mr. Sirica's car was rolled down. They attempted to call for their brother officers but couldn't contact them."

11. What was beautiful ...........
was that the boyos ended up following the cops.

I mean, you can't make this up.

Well, you can, and it ends up on "The Sopranos."

12. I remember it well also.
He ended up with egg on his face on that one, but he was not the only one. It happens sometimes. The McCain/Vicki Iseman thing...that was a black mark for the New York Times and a lot of people jumped onto that story as well, KO included, and now there appears to be enough "no 'there' there" that you can count it as a mistake for them to have done so.

It's going to happen, and when it does, you have to remember there's a difference between looking at the facts about whether a story will pan out and doing a lot of wishful thinking and that you need to keep your own wishes and speculations out of the reporting of factual events. And that sometimes even the oldest and most revered sources can jump the gun and you can't just believe whatever they say and put it on your own news, either.
