LAPD officer faces sex assault charge in Texas
1:52 PM | April 7, 2009

Updated at 2:50 p.m.: The Travis County district Aatorney's office said Filipovich is due back in court April 17 and has been charged with one count of attempted sexual assault.

More details emerged today in the case of a Los Angeles police officer who was arrested over the weekend in Travis County, Texas, for allegedly forcing himself on a female motel employee.

Silvio Sam Filipovich, 43, was taken into custody Friday night at the Mountain Star Lodge motel just outside of Austin and booked on suspicion of attempted sexual assault, authorities said. According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Filipovich cornered the woman in a backroom closet and then allegedly forced himself on her while she was retrieving a crib or playpen for his 3-month-old child.

According to authorities, Filipovich checked into the motel with his wife and toddler about 8:30 p.m. Friday. About half an hour later, he went to the front desk to ask a 19-year-old clerk for a crib.

--- see sordid details at the link below ----

Filipovich has a history of misconduct allegations, according to records obtained by The Times. In one case, the records show that Filipovich, a veteran of more than two decades, “inappropriately exposed penis in a public place,” while off duty. The records date to 1995 and also show that department officials had recommended discipline of more than 100 days for a variety of alleged offenses, including trying to improperly convert an on-duty contact into a social relationship.

1. I would hope that any sort of crime other than a minor traffic ticket
would be grounds for dismissal from the force.
