6. I've always liked Big Ed
But the Randi Rhodes followers all despise him for some reason or other.

Of course, I could never deal with Randi Rhodes.

21. Not ALL of us!
I love Randi, but I'm also a fan of Ed's.

2. I have no idea who he is.
Never heard of him until he filled in for Schuster one time. Or was it Olbermann?

3. If they hire him a very competent staff that lights a fire under him
So that he educates himself on the issues before launching into a spiel on the subject, could be good. Yes, he does appeal to many that KO and Thom Hartman and Rachel might not. We'll have to see...

4. Any time a progressive voice gains a national spotlight, it's a good thing.

5. It's a good thing.
Just remember, when he is talking, YOU may not be his intended audience.

He doesn't always appeal to me, but he brings in and has brought a lot of people into the Democratic Party. People who didn't even realize they were Democrats. It is a good thing. My only real complaint on his show is that he doesn't always stay right on point. But, with just one hour on the TV, I expect him to hit the points and stay on topic.

7. If he does what he says he's going to do, it would be a good thing.
Claims he's going to bring up a lot of pro labor, pro union, pro working class topics. If so, more power to him.

I'll believe it when I see it, because GE and their corporate sponsors probably wouldn't be happy with that message.

10. I like Ed
but he needs more facts. Hopefully KO and Rachel will help him. I'll miss David Schuster at the time though. I thought he was doing a great.

11. Yeah, that's what I don't like about him
Malloy, Seder, Hartmann and Randy make exetnsive use of FACTS.

Ed tends to read headlines only then goes off on rants.

He is a solid supporter for workers, though.

12. Would You Prefer Them Bring Back Bow Tie Boy?
or give an hour again to Alan Keyes or Laura Ingraham? Consider this another step in the right direction.

Some here have been critical of him for not being "Progressive" or "Liberal" enough, but he represents a voice and audience that has helped the Democratic party grow in recent years. He's helped bring balance and reason to areas of the country that have only heard right wing clap traps and does very well with independents and rural audiences...the folks in the red and purple areas who made a big difference in last year's election.

From one with a radio background, I salute Ed for working his way up from a small station in North Dakota to the largest radio audience of any left/progressive radio host as well as an effective spokesperson on teevee (Larry King appearances). He'll connect with the Faux viewers and the independents like a Keith or Rachel can do with the rest of us. It's widening the tent and kudos to MSNBC for making this move.

Good luck Big Ed.

15. Not In The Least
I've seen others who have been real critical of Ed...this was especially the case during last year's primaries.

Also there are some who are dissapointed their favorite wasn't selected or liked David Schuster who were pooping in some cornflakes.

I don't get personal here, MrScorpio...we all are walking in the same direction.

Cheers...

16. It doesn't matter to me. I've given up on "commentary TV." It's boring.
I won't watch it.

But the more MSNBC provides a response to Fox, that's probably a good thing for the whole concept of discourse and debate.

17. Good thing of course
He has a busy day with his regional morning show (KFGO-AM, KFYR-AM), afternoon national show, and then the evening MSNBC show. I wish Big Eddie well in his new opportunity.

19. Very good thing.
Anytime a rational, progressive voice is allowed on the air, it is a good thing. He talks to the blue collar workers of the Heartland.

I just hope he keeps his sports chatter to a minimum.

20. I think it's a good thing. I like Bid Eddie.
Don't always agree with him, but then, I don't always agree with any other talking head.

I've always said that Ed can reach people that some other people who lean toward the progressive/liberal side could not reach. If I were to recommend a non-rightie person to, say, my brothers and brothers-in-law, who aren't BushBots, but who do lean more right than left, I would pick Ed in a heartbeat. The way he talks, and his take on things, could speak to them, whereas someone like Mike Malloy would set their teeth on edge and send them running into the night.

I just wish his show was on later; here, it's on when I'm still at work.

22. I dunno.
It's good that another "progressive" got a show, but not sure if he will be a good host. He seems to yell when he's on tv. I'm not sure how that will play.

23. A qualified 'good thing' vote.
The Big Redhead may not be everyone's cup of tea, as he tends to be more of a centrist on some issues.

I find myself agreeing with him, for the most part, on a great many issues, and getting angry at him over others.

I do like his unqualified support for Labor, however. He could teach some Democrats a lesson on that issue.

I wish him every success as I see him as a positive force, overall.
