Doritos to name new flavor after comedian Stephen Colbert
(Plano, TX) After Doritos' promotion of the comedian's failed presidential bid and actor's promotion of the Spicy Sweet Chili flavor on his show, The Colbert Report, Frito-Lay has decided to honor Stephen Colbert with its newest Doritos' flavor.

"He really has gone out of his way on The Report to advertise our product," said Heidi Miller, a spokeswoman for Frito-Lay. "We felt we owed him. Also, he wouldn't stop calling our board of directors until they agreed. They have families, they need to sleep."

The new Doritos flavor, to be debuted next month, will be named "Stephen Colbert's Scotch Bonnet Nation." Corporate insiders say it will be touted as the spiciest Doritos flavor to date, with a Scoville rating between 80,000 and 120,000 SCU. Tabasco, a popular red pepper sauce, rates between 2,500 and 5,000 SCU.

Colbert was upbeat in his response to the delectable news. "This is better than the turtle. It might be as awesome as the trapdoor spider - well, maybe not. But Nation, we cannot be satisfied until my name is included in all the major food groups! I ask you, Nation, to tell Dr. Pepper that you'd rather be drinking a Dr. Colbert!"

1. That's a cruel April Fool's!!
For shame!

Not only does Stephen Colbert deserve a Dorito honoring him, I'd actually like a Dorito that's extra-hot.

2. Sorry bout that
Doritos isn't opposed to trying out new flavors and Colbert plugged for them for a long time. They had some Habanero ones awhile back, but they disappeared.

At the rate Colbert's going, it's only a matter of time before he has his own Doritos flavor. I don't think of this as an April Fool's joke so much as really early reporting.
