Why doesn't anyone say: "If the surge is working, why object to getting out by '08?"
The GOP is telling us the surge is working. They told us in 2002-2003 the war in Iraq would be short, 6 months tops. We know they made a mess of executing the war and now they say they fixed their mistakes.

If this surge is working so well, why can't we be out in a year? More importantly, why aren't the dems asking/saying it?

I am sick of playing defense. We should take the offense.

3. I've been asking this over and over...
and I have yet to get an answer. They are supposed to begin withdrawal in 120 days...thats FOUR months! If the surge is actually working like they say, there is no reason why they can't begin to pull troops out in four frickin' months.

6. I Thought That Way Long Ago
not about the surge, but, hey, Dubya said it himself - Mission Accomplished.

We can now leave Iraq. We did what we went in there to do.

7. ....unless of course the surge ISN'T working....
Edited on Thu Mar-29-07 08:50 PM by HappyWeasel
nearly 400 people were obliterated in Iraq over the past 72 hours....but then again, if this is our last chance to win, and if we do win, we will win in the next months. Wouldn't it be logical for a time table to expire by the end of this year because by then the war would be won or lost? Unless of course we want Iraq as a colony or just a test range for our new post-birth abortion techniques.

11. which is exactly why we should be saying it
if they want to say the surge is working, like "mission accomplished" we need to make them eat their words. If it's working, why are they so against pulling out next year? If its because they want bases/to be there forever, make them say it outloud.

9. We are at the 4 year mark. With a surge it should take less time.. like 2 years or less.

10. I was saying that earlier today.
If the "surge" works out as well as * seems to think it will, we should be able to pull out combat troops in a year and a half. The bill even lets him keep some troops over there for training Iraqis and fighting terrorists.

And if the surge doesn't work and the violence gets even worse, the loudest voices calling for withdrawal next year may be Republicans up for reelection.
