Sampson Suggested Removing Fitzgerald

Sampson Suggested Removing Fitzgerald

Here's Kyle Sampson's testimony about suggesting to White House counsel Harriet Miers and deputy White House counsel Bill Kelley that they remove U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald.

(Video)

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) asks if Fitzgerald was ever considered for removal?

Sampson says:

"On one occasion in 2006, in discussing the removal of U.S. attorneys... that I was speaking with Harriet Miers and Bill Kelley and I raised Pat Fitzgerald, and immediately after I did it, I regretted it. I thought, I knew it was the wrong thing to do, I knew it was inappropriate. And I remember at the time that Harriet Miers and Bill Kelley just looked at me.... I said, "Patrick Fitzgerald could be added to this list."... They just looked at me."

Durbin asks why he suggested that. And Sampson says he doesn't know why, that maybe it was just to "get a reaction out of them."

1. I'd ask "What else have you suggested just to get a reaction"?

2. The answer of a 5-yr-old when asked why he stood up

and screamed the word "shit" during kindergarten class.

Dipshit wanted Fitz out, that's why he asked for it.

I'm sure Miers and Kelley reminded him that they couldn't make the Saturday Night Massacre Part Deux look so obvious.

6. I liked when Sampson was asked
If Pat Fitzgerald had failed to distinguish himself according to this rating, what, exactly, would it take for a USA to distinguish himself?

7. indicting the democrat party, indicting all democrat governors
and indicting all democrat congresscritters on trumped up charges, forcing them all to resign or step asside, then replacing them with faschist neoconmen, and declaring martial law.

12. didn't Kyle's boy, Rove, say something about
this being the end of the Democratic party in this country a while back? Looks like he had simpleton set things in motion.

13. too true, and when rove said that, he REALLY meant it.
by any means, legal or not, that is what they tried to do. Of course, the Democrats did a lot to help out.

Amazing. They tell us in 2000 that they plan to invade Iraq. We ignore it, and it happens. They tell us that they plan to invade Iran. Watch it happen as we sit. Boy George says it would be easier to be a dictator, and it happens. Rove says he wants to destroy the Democrat party, and they actually came closer than we would like to believe.

16. Yup, he made sure that everyone knew
that it was HIS idea. Doing an Ollie North. Can't prosecute him because he revealed it in congressional testimony.

9. I remember it came out that they were thinking about Fitzy
If I google it now, it's probably going to come up with about 20 pages related to Sampson's testimony though. It didn't get a whole lot of play and Fitzy true to his character shrugged his shoulders about it and pretty much just said life will go on when he was asked for comment.

The timing was right around as he was wrapping up the trial of our Governor Ryan (R), and getting the assignment of from Ashcroft/Comey regarding the Plame leak. *trying to revive dead brain cells* Maybe spring of 2005???

As 'unbelievable' as it would seem that he was suggested for termination by Sampson, it's not surprising when you consider the mentality of the Rove-mentored minions. Advancing the President's Policies require guerrilla politics; it's how the job gets done. Unfortunately, they fail to comprehend that their actions are guerrilla politics or political in nature by virtue of it being the "advancement of Bush's policies".

11. Amazing, isn't it...
...that he remembers making the suggestion but has no idea why he might have done that.

"Just to get a reaction"... weak.

15. That little weasel is lying
They discussed firing Fitz. You know they did. Rove would have fired Fitz too if he thought he could get away with it.
