to turn down 288 million of the the stimulus then maybe Alaskans no longer need the oil revenue money? Could it be that she doesn't listen to Alaskans?
"Gov. Sarah Palin's rejection of $288 million of the federal economic stimulus money is holding Alaska back, said Acting Mayor Matt Claman and Anchorage School District superintendent Carol Comeau at a press conference today."
Maybe the $26 million for Anchorage schools is not really that important to her, half of which was for special-needs kids, the other half for schools in the poorest neighborhoods.
Governor Palin said she would accept money that is "timely, targeted and temporary" and does not create strings that will bind the state in the future. Sort of like the oil check that is neither, "timely or temporary?"
Carol Comeau said, "We believe that we can make very good use of the funds, not only in job preservation but also in adding new positions to ultimately use these funds to increase student achievement for our neediest children" Is Palin listening to the people of Alaska?
Maybe the nation as a whole sees just how successful Alaska is and we can now stop the oil revenue checks, you know, the checks that if sent to a health care account would provide free medical services for every Alaskan instead of new snowmobiles every year. Maybe we divert the oil revenue money to a state that really wants health care? We do know that with Palin's refusal of stimulus money they can't possibly need the oil money anymore right?
