Today I had a patient for a routine hygiene visit who happens to be a bankruptcy attorney. He was telling me that he has a whole bunch of new clients who are doctors and dentists who are filing various Chapters, and that many of them had been involved in so-called retail dental and medical practices, such as Esthetic Dentistry Centers, Plastic Surgery Centers, and the like. this is not particularly surprising since they were entirely based upon the 'need' for 'elective' services.
He also told me that there are several large and very busy surgical groups who are in big trouble because although they are swamped with patients - urological, gynecological - they are hemorrhaging cash and can't keep open. This is very disturbing.
Of course, he was no specific and very professional, but he did say, "I'm glad that when I called you for an appointment, there was someone there to answer the phone."
