I don't want my elected officials to share my outrage.
I want them to fix the damn problem.

Self-aggrandization and chest-thumping at committee hearings is not a legitimate substitute for policymaking.

Our Senators, Representatives, and White House officials need to quit acting appalled by the greed of the Wall Street crooks, start taking it as a given, and proceed as such. They're not leaders of an angry mob. They hold positions of power and have the tools available to correct the situation. So it'd be nice if they cut the fucking rhetoric and showed more action.

4. But..but...contracts, including credit default swaps, are cast in concrete...
and if we have to bankrupt the US Treasury to payoff every last CDS, well, so be it.

Oh, unless the contract is a union contract. In that case they can be broken on a whim.

5. Agreed...makes you wonder about the knee jerk reaction

Like that line in Cassablanca-
"Gambling in my establishment??? Shocked... Shocked, I tell you!"

I mean, who allowed this over the years to go unchecked? Congress turns it s heads, nobody knows who removed what rules about how the unregulated get away with our money.

Too familiar over the years, and now THEY'RE angry...???

6. Totally agree...with one proviso
Complicated problems take time to fix. It is precisely the role of an elected official to concentrate on complexity rather than running after the latest outrage like condemning it is a fix in itself. Conversely, people must allow elected officials the time to work through complex problems.

Both these obvious notions have been sorely lacking on this board of late.

7. Despite one minor problem... That is, most of them are probably on the take as well....
Sorry to say that, but I would not want to bet on the ones that are not vs those that are.... Greed is everywhere it seems!

10. Makes you wonder what they're really hiding doesn't it?
I'd like to know exactly how much money these bankers have stolen, in detail. I think we're seeing the tip of the iceberg.

the politicians pick up the tempo, the people dance to the tune, and then everyone chases the sound-byte.

14. Outraged with benefits.
Well they can't be that "outraged" because many of them get campaign funding from the corporations that they are so called "outraged" over.
