All the senatorial bluster is a bit much
This AIG thing, and all the other scandals like it, will just keep on happening, until corporate lobbying is banned, public financing of elections is instituted, and media is spun off away from the profit-making parts of their parent companies..

Ole Mitch Mcconnell frothed at the mouth when he demanded to know "how this happened"..

The kindergartner version for Mitch:

MILLIONS of dollars buys campaign goodies for senators & congresscritters, who in turn, enact sweetheart legislation (to keep the money flowing next time), media declines to dig too deeply because they want to be invited to all the fun events and to be on speed-dial with the influential legislators.. the corporate vultures/vampires run amok, steal all the money, and then ask for MORE..and congress gives it to them..

That's how it happens, Mitch..

2. Big crooks..big theft
They knew the people they were dealing with in the congress had NO idea what they were doing.. and they also knew that if they made it complicated enough, they would get away with it for a very long time, and most would escape unscathed..

the naked swimmers like Madoff would get exposed when the tide went out, but most of the others just walked away with pockets full of tax money..letting the people who end up trying to "fix" the mess, taking the blame for not doing it fast enough:grr:
