Rants/Raves...what say you?
http://www.jacksonville.com/news/metro/2009-03-17/story/liberals_live_the_christian_faith_too

It's time the right-wingers quit their whining and accept the fact that the country has taken a new and impressive direction. For too many years, those of us who believe in doing what is good for the greater masses, rather than what is good for the ones that have, had to stand by and see our government not only cut services to those who need them the most but also abandon the principles on which this country was founded. Our higher calling now is that we will provide protection for those who cannot protect themselves, support for those who cannot support themselves, and care for those who cannot care for themselves. I want my tax dollars to work for the good of all Americans, without exception or prejudice. You can call it a liberal agenda if you want to. I call it living the Christian faith.

3. I'm not a Christian..........
Where does that comment leave me?

We're a nation that was founded, in part, to have freedom of religion as well as freedom from religion.

We're a secular nation.

I call it living responsibly in a representative democratic republic.

4. I'm not a card carrying Christian either,but
I do try to follow in the footsteps of all great teachers...so the Rant/Rave reference doesn't bother me. A lot of what Jesus preached about was good stuff. Just saying....

5. Nope .............
I appreciate your sentiment, and I agree with you.

But, once a label like that is used, it gains respectability, and I, as one of the vile secular humanists, want to make sure no one even approaches that slippery slope.

Good that people want to emulate the life of Jesus and follow his teachings, which are quite wonderful, but invoking Christianity carries a risk that I refuse to allow in my lovely, secular country.

We've all seen what happens when religion becomes part of the national political fabric - as in, the past eight years.

So, Christians have cards?

6. I wish they did have cards...
it might be easier to recognize them when needed. Jacksonville, FL is one hugely Christianized area and soooooo red-stained with conservatism that I have to wonder if insanity is contagious.

7. And that's where you are?
Ohhhh, poor baby.

So you see why I don't want that camel's nose sneaking in under the tent. Gotta smack it hard as soon as it appears.

Sort of like mold..................

10. My flesh is crawling ............
Their votes count the same as ours, which pisses me off.

But they're so angry and ill-informed, uninformed and mean-spirited.

Oh, buddy, I feel for you. What a hateful collection those responses were.

Alleged "Christians". Can't live with them, can't pile them in a big stadium and make them stay there forever........................

11. My neighbor told me tonight
that he received a tongue lashing this weekend from a complete stranger over the Obama sticker on my neighbor's car. The person was almost hysterical spouting off about "Change Now!" These people are dangerous. There's not a stadium big enough to handle all these fools.

12. You're making me awfully grateful
that I live in Alexandria, VA, which is known as "The People's Republic of Alexandria."

Good luck, my dear.........................
