Perino claims Bush was responsible for last week’s stock market climb.
Since he was elected, conservatives have been faulting Barack Obama for the collapse in the stock market. But last week, the market posted gains for four straight days. According to former White House Press Secretary Dana Perino, the man most responsible for the stock market’s climb last week was…President Bush. HuffPost’s Sam Stein notes that, on C-Span yesterday morning, Perino offered this explanation:

“You were just speaking earlier about the possibility that since we had a little bit of a better week on Wall Street does that spell a turnaround?” Perino said. “Can all the credit go specifically to President Obama? Well, I would say no. We are just going to have to take a while to let all of this settle down and let the policies that our administration and the new administration are trying to put in place have a chance to work.”

Watch it:

http://thinkprogress.org/2009/03/16/perino-stocks /

Steve Benen responds, “Putting aside whether watching Wall Street is a useful guide to measuring the strength of economic policies — it clearly isn’t — the point to remember is that positive developments are evidence of Republican wisdom, and negative developments are evidence of Democratic failure.”

The depths of the delusional state of the GOP is simply astounding. 8 years into the Bush disaster they were still blaming Clinton, 30 seconds into the Obama administration it was all his fault. Actually worse than that since they tried to say that the decline actually started once it became apparent he would win the nomination.

Seems the GOP is the Bart Simpson party. “I didn’t do it, nobody saw me, you can’t blame me”. And sadly, somehow, nearly 50% of the voters still align themselves with this party. I guess we really are that dumb.

Well, of course he’s responsible. His disastrous policies destroyed Republican credibility to such an extent that he enabled the Democrats to retake the White House and both houses of Congress, and his callousness and careles incompetence has poisoned the Republican brand for a long time to come. This has enabled Barack Obama, despite all the hysterical theatrics, to put in place a sensible recovery program.

I mean, they were the party of responsibility in 2000, weren’t they.

Everything bad that happened during Bush’s reign, was either Clinton’s fault, or they had to continuously fabricate stories and lie to justify the errs.
Now that the stocks are finally, FINALLY, showing signs of gains, it’s all because of BUSH???

According to the neoCONS, Bush is god. Bush has accomplished more in his eight years then any other Democratic president, combined!

Meanwhile, here in what we progressives like to call REALITY, odds are favorable that Bush will be seen as

If Dana wishes to be taken seriously, she needs to explain exactly WHAT policy of the Bush administration is directly responsible for the market uptick, and specifically why the climb is due to that policy.

According to the MSM, they gave Republicans the majority of air time because they were the majority in power.

Now they still give Republicans the majority of air time because then the Democrats would have an ‘unfair’ and ‘ undemocratic’ influence on the public discourse.

ANd why would they think that discredited former administration officials’ opinions are worth airing? Oh that’s right, because the MSM insists its not supposed to judge the veracity or honesty or ‘reasoning’ or motivations of Republicans!

That kind of thing is reserved for Democrats because…ummm they are now in power and the MSM would be abrogating their responsibilities as the 4th Estate if they didn’t maintain a steady stream of criticism, no matter how disingenuous or false, because THAT apparently is their job.
