Prosecutors want Madoff, wife to hand over $100 million in property

NEW YORK - Federal prosecutors have notified a New York court that they also want the assets of Bernard Madoff’s wife.

In a court filing, the government said it will seek the $7 million Manhattan penthouse as well as another $62 million that Ruth Madoff had sought to keep.

The 70-year-old Bernard Madoff pleaded guilty last week to securities fraud and perjury, among other charges.

Madoff’s lawyers had indicated earlier that they planned to claim Ruth Madoff was entitled to keep as much as $69 million in assets.

Homes in Manhattan, Palm Beach, Florida, Cap d’Antibes, France and on New York’s Long Island, valued at a total of $22 million, $17 million in a bank account and at least $45 million in COHMAD Securities Corp, a brokerage part-owned by Bernard Madoff, are on the government’s list seen on Monday.

and earned $100 million or so independently, I'm guessing it'll be hard to argue that her assets weren't the fruits of her husband's ponzi scheme.

2. The only thing that should be left is anything she can prove was
made legally from money she had before all this started. The rest belongs to the people he stold from. It is time that crime does not pay anymore.
