Dealing With Relatives who listen to Rush Limbaugh and think he is great.

OK. I am at a loss right now. I don't quite know what to do. My brother in law is a republican. That's fine. He listens to Rush Limbaugh. OK. whatever. My husband told me today that my brother in law does not want to vote for the union because IBEW supported Obama for President. WHAT!!!! GRR!!! So, a labor union supported a candidate that supports unions and workers?? why is that bad? My BIL HATES obama. he thinks he is the worst thing there is. He put a sticker on my sisters car that says FUBO which totally pissed my sister off. She can't even get the sticker off. She is afraid of what will happen if her neighbors see this sticker on her car.

Now, I really don't know what to say to my BIL. I know he doesn't like democrats. But he would vote against his own self interests... the interests of his family.... and MY INTERESTS. My husband is now feeling disheartened in his efforts to get a union where he works. The company really screwed the guys over last year and then didn't give them a raise. They first said no bonus, but backed off of that because they knew that would just make it easier to get a union in there. Last year when they voted for the union, the measure failed by FIVE votes. so the idea that my BIL would vote against a union just because the IBEW supported obama makes me sick. He's not just affecting his own future and livelihood now.... he's affecting my family.

I can't help but wonder just what dan thinks obama is trying to do. My sister, on unemployment, is still receiving this unemployment insurance because of the stimulus. She's been out of work since October. So he doesn't want people in charge who are trying to help him and his family survive this mess? I just don't friggin understand it. It makes me kind of mad that instead of finding out the information he just listens to Rush and believes everything he says.

I have asked him how he can listen to Rush Limbaugh when this guy hates women and is a drug addict. Rush Limbaugh is all about Rush Limbaugh. He wants obama to fail because he'll be just fine no matter what happens. He's got his money. He's got his. Who does my BIL think is going to suffer if Obama's plans don't work??? My BIL. His wife. His kids. that's who. ME and my family. Rush Limbaugh doesn't give a good god damn about my BIL or his family or mine for that matter. and i wish people like my BIL would think instead of just believe what these jerks say.

family to cover his ass if the shit hits the fan. STOP backing him up.

After eight years of destruction it's TIME to start telling these whiny crybabies to GROW UP, SHUT UP and LISTEN to BOTH sides.

If HE doesn't want the union say Fine - and then cut him entirely OUT of the process of getting the other workers in line. Stop babying him. IGNORE him when he acts like a jerk.

Trust me, I know. My older brother is the same. I KNOW he was raised better than that and taught critical thinking. He won't change. So I just don't go there. But when he says/sends stupid talking point crap, I shoot him down with mountains of facts until he shuts the fuck up.

continue to make sure your husband's job gets the union. Be outspoken about it if you are asked by your BIL. If he says anything, you respond by saying that you are sticking to YOUR family's future and well being and that you would appreciate if he keeps the comments to himself.

PERIOD.

I often get e-mails from right wing family members. All i do is respond to them with facts. Don't ever though, keep quiet, defend your principles. Right wingers love to shut us out, we must stand to them when they do their right winger shits....

Seriously, Obama seems to be helping his family more than he is.

WHY does he want to work against his own family's interest? Ask him that.

8. he doesn't hate his wife. i honestly think that he just listens to that crap so much

because he drives around all day for his job, that he is brainwashed. and he refuses to hear anything else. I feel bad for my sister. she doesn't like rush limbaugh and is a democrat. and she was very angry when dan put that sticker on her car. his response was that he paid for the car (or is paying for it). my sister told him that SHE is the one that drives it. he should have put it on his work van. See, when i put an obama sticker on my van, I put it on a magnet so that I could remove it. The only time my husband took it off was when we went through alabama because he was afraid of the racist rednecks we might come across. I am not saying that everyone in alabama is like that, mind you. but we were traveling through from ny on our way to florida to visit bob's sick dad and he didn't want a confrontation in alabama. when he put the magnet back on at a rest stop afterward, an older black man who was walking by smiled at bob.

I think dan is a decent guy. he could stand to actually look thing up for himself. but i know ow hard it is to hear thhings we don't want to hear. I find myself having that problem sometimes. but i do try to find out information to prove or disprove things i hear. in the age of the internet, i really think none of us has an excuse for not knowing the facts. it's obvious to me that everyone on tv and radio has their ideas and perhaps some have their agenda... and therefore they have a slant to their reporting that fits their leaning.

i can only hope that someday people like my BIL will wake up and see through the crap that rush limbaugh and his ilk spew.
