Did anyone see Dennis Miller on TDS last night?
At first I was outraged about his rants and taunts towards the Democrats.

But then my outrage turned to pity.

Must suck to be him. He's still trying to carry water for the biggest losers the world has seen. And he was trying so very, very hard. Which made me pity him more.

"Nancy Pelosi blinks a lot."

"Robert Byrd is old"

Christ..............

9. You mean the ones at the end of the show?
OMG they were priceless! Especially when Colbert was obviously looking up obscure cultural references on the Internet. Dennis Miller is such a pompous, pretentious blowhard.

10. Yeah, those ones...
I thought it sort of was a nice response to all of Miller's idiocy, just making him look like the blowhard he is.

Great performance by Colbert -- loved his mock outrage when Stewart called him on it.

Once he pulled the "Carbon credits" out of his pocket, I said "I've seen enough" and turned off the TV.

21. I felt that way too at first--but the only comeback
Jon could have interjected would be something equally offensive like making fun of the appearance of some republicans. I think, over all, the way they handled it was very clever without rolling around in the same mudpit.

Nothing like listening to them to see how shrill. rude, and stupid they really are. Coulter took a hit with the Edwards comment. Maybe more folks will pull the plug or better yet stop listening to them.

19. Let them make fun of us..
... I don't really care. Working at RW talkstation, I see the attacks have been stepped up. But its all personal ataacks and pro war porpagandea, it has no basis in fact, and not a drop of truth. If all they have is size, facial ticjs and age, then they got nothin'. We won they lost. They need to get over it and quickly. Because if they keep it up, 2008 is gonna make 2006 look like a Republican victory!

7. And to think I was happy when he was hired on Monday Night Football
Actually that was because the other alternative was Pus Limpballs. Miller turned out to be the snobby supercilious hack he always has been, definitely a piss poor fit for MNF. His career has been a downward spiral since then. He really is a rather pathetic figure.

8. My reaction too, last time Miller was on.
The last time Jon had that hack on TDS I was like you--just felt sorry for Dennis, and Jon even asked something akin to "come on, don't you wish you hadn't decided to back Bush?"

(I wonder if I'll be able to watch the 8pm rebroadcast tonight... sounds painful.)

so, did he mention that Michael Moore is fat?

I've had to work past 6 all week, and Jeopardy comes on here at around 4:30.

Fortunately, The Game Show network plays reruns of Jeopardy.

Can you DU mail me Intravenousdemilo's real name so that I can watch out for him?

18. Miller thought Stewart was skewering Dems in the first segment
He missed that in fact, he wasn't - he was pointing out how the repukes were accusing Dems of things they weren't doing.

And what is so funny about making fun of an old man (Byrd), a possible rape victim (the Duke case), and Nancy Pelosi's looks? Wow, really classy material there, Dennis. NOT! :eyes:

28. Yes, I think satire goes over repukes heads, really
Miller was not funny at all, and actually, I thought he made an ass of himself. And Jon just let him. A couple of times Jon tried to get a word in edgewise, and it wasn't easy - Miller was prepared to talk FAST and a lot, and keep Jon from saying much - it was like he was on speed.

Nancy is fine looking woman, apparently his tastes must run more to what he accustomed to - cheap crack whores.

He'd just need to drop the politics and go back to the basics that built his career. Unfortunately for him, he's not that smart and he's a true 25%'er Bushbot. Apparently his life goal is to go down with the ship.

he was doing all of the talking. What I did hear was the premier of his talk show on the radio I listened on and off and he was terrible. He kept waiting for some guest, it seemed to help him out he didn't receive that many callers and he seemed to only want to tell his unfunny jokes.

36. Did anyone catch Jon's last remark?
It happened so quick I wasn't sure. When Dennis was making fun of old people Jon jokingly chimed in with him and said "Those WMDs have gotta be somewhere" then quickly ended it. Jon barely got a word in the whole time but ended it with that. At least I think that's what he said. I think that one comment tore down everything DM had to offer, and yes it made him seem pathetic.

40. I watched and all I could think is what a jerk he was and that he simply wasn't funny at all...
As he spoke, it sounded like a schtick that he had rehearsed in front of the mirror a 100 times and the only thing they were missing was a laughtrack and a drum-roll for him. But even then, that wouldn't have made it funny. I thought his comments about Robert Byrd were really mean, making fun of someone's age.

The disappointing thing was watching Jon Stewart laughing and seeming to enjoy it....that I really didn't get.

42. Nice whiff of Desperation
I thought.. he couldn't take the chance of Jon speaking and blowing his schtick out of the water with a single shot, so he amped it up..

Hoping at the same time for his last shot I think of some crossover ignorants to maybe fall for him.

Pathetic. Like one person said once, listening to him is like being stuck on a 4 day road trip with your dad as a teen, and he won't shut up :)

By the way, I heard that the New Orleans where he's 'entertaining', is a Three Star resort. I'd guess that's pretty generous of them to hire a hack like him. Is this his 4th or 5th right wing loser career move? I'm losing track :)
