...withdraw troops from Iraq, during his campaign?

Having a spirited tete-a-tete on another forum, with a guy who is trying to say Obama broke a campaign promise about "immediate withdrawal from Iraq".

I don't recall Obama ever making a promise to leave Iraq immediately - I would have remembered, because on top of everything else, that would be impossible.

Can anyone point me to a source of quotes promising a "gradual" or staggered withdrawal of troops?

1. Nope, as I recall he said that he would try for 16 months unless something unforeseen...

was introduced that would change that time frame.... He now says 19 months, and that works for me...
