Rental prices in northern NH are down and they are doing month to month

instead of yearly leases. I looked at 5 places today....any of them a good possibility. Rents seem to be running $700 to 800 for 2B/2B.

I guess ski business is way, way down and a lot of yuppies have stopped paying on time shares, thus increasing the pool of rentals available.

It's good news for you, but bad news for landlords and banks.

The locals cannot afford the rents, so a really smart realtor we met with today told us she is advising all home owners who want to rent to lower their prices. It's a renters paradise up here right now.

and the people who do time shares a week at a time in ski season. It's the latter that I'd expect to vanish.

because winter storms have been bypassing the southern Rockies for the last ten weeks. It is DRY.

People who depend on ski tourism are probably going under this year. Lots of galleries in Santa Fe are closing.

We all dread fire season.

8. Rock salt, sand and bags of concrete for the trunks of rear wheel drive vehicles

9. We used bags of cat litter in the trunk..makes a great "traction-agent"

if you ever got stuck.. and for a cat-vet, that seems appropriate too

12. Kit lit is fine for emergency road use, but it's no good for walk ways

and drive ways. Turns to cement when it gets wet.

and then of course when srping came, it was for the litter box

we never salted.. (too much nastiness for the yard & run-off)..we just shoveled & slogged through snow

16. They used gravel & cinders in Northern Indiana..but judging from the timeframe

(the 70's) who knows what ELSE was in it .. All I remember is that in a day or two, it was GRAY, SOUPY MESS..
