- Many say a depression doesn't have to be great, that the economy can sink into a milder depression. The Salvation Army says it's happening now, and in San Diego County, people are standing in line outside a Salvation Army waiting for donated bread.
Salvation Army director of communications Suzi Woodruff Lacey said they are seeing people from all walks of life: "white collar, blue collar, people who have lost their jobs, people who are in danger of losing their homes."
Bread lines were regularly seen in the 1930s during the Great Depression, when unemployment peaked at more than 25 percent and the stock market lost 90 percent of its value. Today, California's unemployment rate hit 8.4 percent. THANK YOU AIG, CITI BANK, COUNTRYWIDE, BANK OF AMERICA, JPMORGAN AND GOLDMAN SACHS. THANK YOU BUSH, PAULSON AND BERNAKE! AND ALL THE OTHER ASSHOLES WHO WERE INSTRUMENTAL IN BRINGING OUR COUNTRY TO IT`S KNEES!!
3. The author might also point out that the way unemployment is calculated today
is quite different than it was then.
In the 30s the government felt it really needed to know how many people were out of work, today the government needs to keep the numbers as low as possible so that citizens don't know how many people are out of work.
Counting today as they did then, unemployment is in the 15% - 20% range, plus we have 3 times the population.
as these so called pundits tell us what the unemployment rate is as though we are stupid enough to believe this shit. The amount of people, the circumstances, the types of jobs and other factors make their numbers WRONG...
7. Yep, they are lying about how high unemployment really is.
If the people of this country knew the whole truth, they might go all French on the powers that be in Washington DC, and they can't have that, can they?
