New Hamp[shire PSNH customers! Check in if your bills have been crazy high.
I just got 2 bills for the same month. One was a pretty good reflection of my normal useage in February and the other, for the same period, was twice that much. I have friends that have had problems since the ice storm. Anyone else?

1. Ours are always high in the winter because a small part
of the house has electric heat. I haven't noticed them being much worse than the usual horrific winter bills, but I'm sure we'll be paying for the ice storm repairs one way or another. In the past we've had out-of-whack bills if the meter reader couldn't get to the meter because of the ice and snow. If that was the case it will probably readjust when the meter is read.

2. CMP here in Maine...
...estimates on average one bill a winter, then does a reading, and the average of those two months seems comparable to what I usually pay.

Example: I probably used more than $69 in January, and less than $338 in February, since I had to run a space heater in the mudroom to keep the pipes to the washer thawed...

3. PSNH announced that they failed to get the meter-readers out during the blackouts.
So they sent many estimated bills that were quite bogus (as many of us were
completely unable to *USE* electricity for a week or two).

Call them; they'll make an accommodation for you and the real meter reading
will turn up in the next billing cycle.
