The Iranian oil bourse was scheduled to open in March 2006.
(It didn’t open until February 17,2008. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_Oil_Bourse). Some feared that the neocons would launch “Operation Iranian Freedom” or something equally foolhardy in order to prevent the bourse from happening.

What effect, if any, as the Iranian oil bourse had on the US dollar or anything else pertaining to the US?
I have searched and have found nothing about its effects, only speculations. Nothing more recent about the effects (if any) that have occurred.

4. when this was first reported the dollar was weak
still is to a degree though it is gaining ground and will continue to do so, at least in the intermediate term. but back then when oil was screaming higher each day it seemed like a big deal to some even though it was not. we dont import oil from Iran as we have little use or refining capacity for their heavy sour crude. they can quote their oil in figs for all the impact it would have on the U.S.

6. The oil wasn't as important
as the fact that it was going to be tied to the euro, not the dollar.

If oil is tied to the euro, it threatens the hegemonic stability of the US.

7. Some of the links are expired.
I found them through the Wayback Machine last week for one of my professors. Sorry, but they are "print" links from PDF's I saved.
